Judge dismisses Proview’s California version of iPad trademark lawsuit against Apple

The Wall Street Journal reports that Apple’s May 4th motion for a California version of the Proview/iPad trademark case to be dismissed has been approved. The saga has been long-running, with Proview claiming that Apple illegally purchased the right to use the “iPad” trademark in China. Apple filed a request for the case dismisal when it reached the U.S. because they say it’s an issue relating solely to the iPad trademark in China. Even so, Apple continues to say that they legally purchased the trademark prior to the iPad going on sale in China. The China-based portion of the lawsuit is ongoing.
