Crowdfunding Roundup: WigWag sensor system, remote control shutter, more

As the success stories keep piling up, so do the number of projects filling up crowdfunding websites with, among other things, neat hardware- and software-related products. Some projects, like Pebble, gain thousands of supporters as well as millions of dollars in funding (and end up at Best Buy’s retail stores). Other projects flop and don’t reach their necessary funding amount.

Rather than make you sift through all of these projects, we’re rounding up the best or most notable projects from around the web and delivering them to you in a simple roundup.

  • WigWag (Kickstarter project) – In short, WigWag is an “if this, then that” system that works with WigWag devices and other “smart” devices like the Phillips Hue or Belkin WeMo outlets. The WigWag Sensor Block can detect humidity, light, motion, sound, temperature, and more. In addition, it can control other things through IR or an electronic relay.

  • C.24 Music Keyboard for iPad (Kickstarter project) – Designed by former Apple product design team employees, this electronic keyboard is designed specifically for the iPad. It works with many apps that support CoreMIDI (GarageBand being one of those) and works through Bluetooth.”We developed an open standard for CoreMIDI over Bluetooth. This technology can be used by any developer to transmit and receive MIDI wirelessly to compatible iOS devices.”
  • myType Pocketable Bluetooth Keyboard (Kickstarter project) – This tiny, foldable keyboard is great for those who want to have a physical keyboard with them at all times. The video shows people pulling the device out of their pockets, so it looks to be extremely portable.
  • Muku Shuttr – mobile shutter for iPhone & Android (Kickstarter project) – It’s a simple concept, but the execution is spot-on. Muku Shuttr is a “Bluetooth remote camera control” for your iOS or Android device. There’s no third party camera app necessary – it works with any iOS 5+ compatible device.
