A new knowledge base article on Apple’s website introduces an iMessage spam reporting system.

To report unwanted iMessage messages to Apple, please send an email with the following details to:

  1. Include a screenshot of the message you have received.
  2. Include the full email address or phone number you received the unwanted message from.
  3. Include the date and time that you received the message.

While iOS 7 allows for blocking Apple IDs for iMessage or FaceTime, this feature will allow users of iOS 5 and up to report unwanted iMessage messages and allow Apple to investigate the associated account..

This feature should’ve been out AGES ago. For weeks I was being harassed by weird emails in iMessage and couldn’t do shit all about it. Just like all of iOS 7 is long overdue this is just another thing that shows where they lack- too caught up in the eye candy.

Would be better if they made it a little button or something where you could just report the current message when in the message. Having to screenshot and then send a message is a lot of effort for something which could be so simple.
