Apple releases OS X Mavericks Developer Preview 5, seeds OS X 10.8.5 build 12F33

Just over two weeks following the release of OS X Mavericks Developer Preview 4, Apple has seeded the 5th preview to developers via the Mac App Store Software Update tool.

Also released is OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.5 build 12F33. That build comes one week after the previous 10.8.5 seed. Safari 6.1 beta 5 has also been released for Mountain Lion.

  1. Im beginning to think that iBooks will not be bundled with Mavericks, but will be a separate app download from the app store. Otherwise, why wouldn’t they have included it in the beta by now?

      First off, it probably will be separate, like on iOS. As for it not being included, maybe it wasn’t done? Writing apps takes time you know :)

    I wonder if they fixed the performance issues with iPhoto. Probably not considering they never have for the last how ever many years.

    Scrolling in Mission Control is removed. Yeah!

    The limit of folders in LaunchPad has been either removed or changed.

    iTunes Notifications are new.

    changing background went back to “Set up desktop picture” after right click. before it was “Services>Set as desktop picture”

    do you guys have problems with iMessages login?

      Yes. Other devices have popups claiming that iMessages has signed in on a new device, but it just doesn’t seem to function at all so far as I can tell.
