Can this be done OTA or is it an upgrade via mac?

  2. Matthew Snider - 11 years ago

I assume since it’s GM it’s not OTA correct? Anyone confirm?

  3. Rafael Ferreira - 11 years ago

    OTA not avaliable until now…

  4. Pawan Adhikari - 11 years ago

    no OTA???

    • This is for developers if you mean you cant get it on your normal phone not on a dev account. Also it is hard for them to do OTA when they dont know if the device is a dev version as you get all the sites that make you pay for the ability to get the dev versions

      • Doire Ó Cuinn - 11 years ago

Every other beta has been OTA so I don’t know what you’re on about.

      • Actually with ios 7, anyone could use it.. You don’t have to be a developer to install the GM though, that’s for sure.

  5. Nik Iafrancesco - 11 years ago

Doesn’t seem to be OTA, neither my iPhone nor iPad find any available updates.

  6. yeah wanna know, too!

  7. Can I install GM version without dev account?

  8. phvme - 11 years ago

gm’s never comes ota, you have to restore it via itunes

    • Does anyone know how to restore to the GM via itunes?

      • phvme - 11 years ago

download the file, open itunes and connect your ios device. hold the shift key on your keyboard and click on “restore”. then manually select your downloaded golden master file e voila

      • Option click the restore button in iTunes if you have a mac. You need iTunes 11.1 beta 2.

      • Amien Phillips (@amien) - 11 years ago

Once you do a restore, will it be a clean install that you have to restore your backup after? I remember when i tried restoring my backup with 1 of the ios7 betas, it changed and i had to restore back to 6.1.4

  9. Nick Gee (@thenickgee) - 11 years ago

Apple doesn’t usually post a Golden Master OTA

  10. Scott Magowan (@smagowan) - 11 years ago

GM is not done via OTA you need to update manually

  11. DJ Yagga™ (@DJYagga) - 11 years ago

No OTA on my iPad Mini & test 4S either. For those who are able to download it, how big is the GM?

  12. decoratiff (@decoratiff) - 11 years ago

I wonder if it contains those announced new ringtones. Can anyone confirm?

    • David Rothschild - 11 years ago

I can confirm, There are a bunch of default ones I don’t recognize, but since I always use the ones I made, I can’t pinpoint the ones that are new/old.

  13. Rich Dennis - 11 years ago

No OTA; only through developer site download. Full install/restore os back up first…

  14. Justin Heintz - 11 years ago

New dynamic wallpapers as well as stills! And ringtones / alert tones!

  15. Chris D'Aurora - 11 years ago

Are there any iOS 7 GM mirrors yet?

  16. Ryan Callahan - 11 years ago

Some really awesome new alert tones and ringtones from Apple included in the GM. The old tones are sorted under a new folder called “classic” which is located at the bottom of all the new alert tones. They (for the first time since the debut of iPhone) have changed the default alert and ringtones. But don’t worry, you can still choose a custom tone or default back to the old!

  17. Daniel Roa - 11 years ago

so im reading on twitter that it requires itunes 11.1 which is only available to devs. am i correct?

    • Tyler Terzigni - 11 years ago

use itunes 11.0.5 and Hold shift and click check for update then select the IPSW. gave me error then still shows as being the GM build

  18. danielpox - 11 years ago

Can someone link me the file or something?? It just doesn’t show up in my iTunes! And yes, I have a dev device.

  19. phvme - 11 years ago

FOR ALL WINDOWS USERS: AFTER THE RESTPRE YOU WONT BE ABLE TO CONNECT YOUR IOS DEVICE TO ITUNES. IT NEEDS ITUNES 11.1 WHICH ISNT AVAILABLE

    • David Rothschild - 11 years ago

Very True! I can confirm. The Apple Dev page only allows download of the 11.1 iTunes beta for Mac.

No more syncing for me….till sept 18th.

    • Alex Țibrea - 11 years ago

What happens then? . I will be able to USE iOS 7 on my iPhone 4 ? . Can I activate the device after that? Please respond. ! . Thanks pal

      • Yes, you can use iOS 7 on your iPhone 4. But you will not be able to sync with your laptop until sept 18th.

      • Jon Doyle - 11 years ago

it says you need itunes 11,1 after it installs tho. i know i installed it via windows. it still installed

  20. Stephen Robinson - 11 years ago

Gah without a Mac or PC and I’m on the last beta. I hope the full release on the 18th lets me go from this to it over the air.

  21. Tom Rudderham - 11 years ago

It also includes new dynamic wallpapers: http://iosguides.net/ios-7-gold-master/

  27. Eranda Sumanasekara - 11 years ago

once I installed beta release how to update official release? please need help

  28. Jason Das - 11 years ago

Word for the wise, learn from my mistake. DO NOT download the GM build to your iPhone if you do not have a Mac computer. You CANNOT restore from backup unless you are on iTunes 11.1 beta 2, which is only available on the Mac. I made that mistake and lost all my stuff until the official version of 11.1 comes out.

However, one way you could get your stuff back is if you back up to iCloud. I don’t because I have over 35GB’s of pictures and videos, which could take weeks over iCloud, and only after I pay for the extra storage.

    • Jon Doyle - 11 years ago

mine still installed on a windows computer. and i have itunes ( not updated )

    • Garret Delaronde - 11 years ago

I’m not a dev, i do have a mac, I upgraded both iphone 4s and iphone 5 to their respective golden master files, i didn’t use restore i used update (cmd + update). after the phones were finished, message in itunes says cant use this phone on itunes without 11.1. This is a simple price to pay for a week without syncing to itunes, however STOP GIVING FALSE INFORMATION YOU TWAT. YOU CAN UPDATE TO GM FROM CURRENT ITUNES VERSION PUBLICLY AVAILABLE.

People who don’t know what they are doing when it comes to updating their iphones with developer releases of ios, shouldn’t try unless they spend some time understanding the issues and the benefits.

      • queerless - 11 years ago

Actually that’s NOT what he said. He said if you do not have the latest (beta) of iTunes you can’t RESTORE FROM BACK-UP, which is 100% true. After installing ios 7 GM you will have to restore from iCloud backup OR set up as new iPhone.

      • Huang Anthony - 11 years ago

No, you can get all you data back if you use [ Check For Updates ] ( 75% )

      • Huang Anthony - 11 years ago

But iTunes relly doesnt support iOS 7 GM only itunes 11.1 can and itunes 11.1 is not avalible for Windows.

  29. Cornelia Coco Pratis - 11 years ago

I’m a Dev but I can’t find itunes 11.1 beta. Can someone link me or tell me the way to download it frov dev center? TX!!!!

  30. Anthony Cardone (@zudy) - 11 years ago

Does anyone know where the iCloud Keychain went, I don’t see it in the GM

  31. Ndue Gjidoda (@NdueG) - 11 years ago

this is not beta,,after ios 7 GM i dont need to upgrade again?

  32. Thomas Jackson - 11 years ago

  33. Huang Anthony - 11 years ago

    Got It Instaled :)

  34. Kautzky György - 11 years ago

Cant install ios 7 gm on my ipad 3 wifi+cellular factory unlocked 6.1.3, because itunes says: apple update server unreachable. Tried to delete the host fle ( of course i have a backup of it ) , without luck. :( The firmware version is OK.

  35. JS3 (@songer121) - 11 years ago

okay so lemme get this strait. im on 6.1.4 with windows now. if i download the GM i can still update to it and use icloud to get all my stuff back on the phone i just cant connect back to itunes until the 18th?

  36. Jonathan Gayle - 11 years ago

What will happen to the gm version of ios 7 when Apple releases the official ios 7 to the public? Will those devices with the gm version still work?

  37. Al Rod - 11 years ago

You don’t need an actual MAC to do this, you can always use VMware to install iTunes 11.1 beta 2 dmg in there without issues. I did this from my Windows laptop since I got error that I needed 11.1 version so I went ahead and used my virtual OS X Lion ;)

  38. Nakul Bhatnagar - 11 years ago

On the iPhone 4s, anyone else notice that wifi becomes unaccessible after installing GM?

  39. when trying to install itunes 11.1 beta 2 i get this error after the installation is done “the installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail”
    any idea?

  40. Hamza Sheikh - 11 years ago

Well, Apple is gonna release iOS 7 final version today, so I have just figured out a link for direct download: http://geeksays.com/ios-7-download/

I believe this will sort out the issue for everyone.
