NBC iOS app finally lets you AirPlay its free full-length episodes to Apple TV

NBC updated its mobile app for iPhone and iPad today with one big update for iOS and Apple TV users: the ability to AirPlay content from the mobile app to your TV via Apple TV.

The update is a big deal for a couple of reasons. The most notable being the fact that NBC offers full TV episodes for free through its mobile app, without the requirement of signing into your existing cable subscription like many other popular network apps. NBC has always been one of the go to apps for cord cutters, and now they’ll be able to beam that content onto the big screen using an Apple TV and AirPlay. Getting a lot of this content on the Apple TV previously required a subscription to Hulu or signing into a cable subscription.

The app, which allows users to watch full-length episodes and clips of the latest shows that have aired on the network is currently limited to users in the United States. Some of the network’s popular shows include The Voice, The Blacklist, About a Boy, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Days of our Lives.

The updated NBC app for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch is available on the App Store now.

finally!! oh..wait…nbc? no, don’t watch anything on nbc

  3. NBC or CNBC? I download the NBC app and it still doesn’t allow to airplay. And the links on the post are going to the CNBC app.

Probably because there’s nothing worth watching on NBC, other than Fallon.

AirPlay sends the NBC commercials, then the only sound but not the video of the show itself. What’s with that!

    • Its annoying as hell but the show had fairly good quality through mirroring to AppleTV during the show content. However, during the commercials, the streaming constantly stops…. i have to switch off mirroring during commercials and they play fine… then switch back on mirroring to watch the show. Annoying.
