The Deluxe Edition of Sim City 4 is now exclusively available on the Mac App Store, some weeks ahead of availability elsewhere, priced at $19.99.

The SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition includes both SimCity 4 and the Rush Hour expansion pack, which gives you more control over your city’s transportation options, plus two bonus disasters: UFO attack and Autosaurus Wrecks.

We even included the exclusive Mac “Custom Tunes” feature that allows your iTunes library to be played in the game!

The original version of SimCity was launched in 1989, with the Mac version appearing last year.

SimCity 4 was the first version to introduce day and night cycles, and has received rave reviews for its 3D graphics.

  1. I’m pretty sure the original version of SimCity was launched well before 2003. Also, there was a version just called SimCity that was launched in 2013.

  2. “NOTICE: This game is not supported on volumes formatted as Mac OS Extended (Case Sensitive)”

Really, so how does that affect a game designed for Macs from a Mac App Store, on a Hard Drive that comes formatted that way then…???

    I’m just a little confused…!!!

  3. “The original version of SimCity was launched in 2003″ I remember playing the 3rd Simcity game, Simcity 3000 in 1999. I think SimCity 4 was the one released in 2003. Also, with the PC version in the Origin Store for 9.99, I wouldn’t call it breaking or a good deal. More like it is present in the App Store, yep, it’s there now, yay.

  4. When the game came out there was a big stink about requiring a persistent internet connection. Does this version include this misfeature?

No, that was about the recently released game titled “Sim City” which you could think of as Sim City 5. EA has announced that that version will receive a patch to allow you to play without an internet connection, not sure if that has been released yet.

Sim City 4 is an older titled originally released in 2003 which is now available on the Mac App Store.

SimCity, SimCity 2000, SimCity 3000, and SimCity 4 are real games with real, working features that are actually playable.

SimCity (2013) is an abomination against software.

  5. Its exclusive to the Mac store for now, but it will eventually be on Steam as well. The PC version on Steam will eventually be converted to a SteamPlay version that works on either Mac or PC.

Screw EA and what they’ve done to Maxis.
