Apple TV receives price drop in Europe and the UK

Apple TV UK

In addition to introducing a more affordable, entry-level iMac early this morning, Apple has dropped the price of the Apple TV in a few non-United States markets. Specifically, the Apple TV sold in Europe and the UK has received a price drop of €10/£20 from their respective €109/£99 price points before. Customers in Europe and the UK can now purchase the Apple TV set-top box at €99 in Europe and £79 in the United Kingdom. The price in the United States remains untouched, however, at $99.

In related Apple TV news, a new version of the Apple TV software was released for developers alongside the second beta previews of iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite yesterday. The update is intended to be used to test AirPlay with apps using the developer preview versions of Apple’s upcoming software releases due this fall.

In addition to AirPlay testing, the developer preview version of the software includes iCloud Family Sharing for including multiple Photo Streams for various iCloud accounts connected by the new feature.

You are aware that the UK is part of Europe, right? :-)

I had to read the article title a couple times. I think my mind kept trying to make UK -> US since in my mind, the UK is part of Europe. I guess since they sell at different price-points that makes it slightly different. but the title didn’t say a specific price drop.

Certainly, but 1) the currency difference and 2) man, will people get upset over that.

      • lolsan - 10 years ago

Well, there are A LOT of other currencies than Euro and GBP in Europe.

      • jebakaa - 10 years ago

There are other currencies too. Just avoid splitting EU and UK. Clearly people do notice.

It’s the same when 9to5mac forgets Canada when they talk about North America

He meant the Euro and Pound prices have been reduced.

technically, united kingdom is european territory, but they refuse to use the euro
so its needed to say it both in euro and pounds, the difference is there
aaah europe and its nicely working harmony of catastrophes

Apple most likely is planning an upgrade for the Apple TV in the near future.

There are already too many Apple blogs. If you’re not going to do something original like imore or 9to5 or daring fireball then don’t bother trying. You’ll only end up getting board with it and give up.
