Apple begins hiring for another 3 new retail stores in China

We previously reported that Apple had new retail stores planned for the Chongqing region as well as upcoming locations for Shenyang and Central Hangzhou coming later this year. Today three more stores in China get added to the mix with a job listing on the company’s website hiring for positions in Tianjin, Wuxi, and Zhengzhou in addition to the three stores mentioned above that we already knew about (via Bloomberg).

In our previous report we noted that Apple’s new retail boss Angela Ahrendts will oversee the opening of 20 more Apple Stores in China through 2016 including four new stores within the next several months. On top of the stores mentioned above Apple also plans to open new stores in East Hangzhou and East Chengdu later this year or in the first half of 2015.

China was a big topic of conversation at the company’s most recent earnings call with the company attributing much of its strong quarter, including record iPhone sales, to growth in China. As noted in the report, Apple’s China operations currently account for around a fifth of its overall sales.

The new locations come as Tim Cook and Apple plan to open double the amount stores it operates in China over the next two years. When announcing that plan back in April during the company’s Q2 earnings call, the company had 10 retail stores in the country, or 13 if including Hong Kong.

The way the pundits and news media usually talk, it’s as though no one in China can afford Apple products. Some idiots are always claiming Apple will continue to lose out in China to those cheaper home brands like Xiaomi and Huawei as if everyone in China wanted cheap products. I’m sure even the Chinese consumer wants some imported goods.
