Javier Verdura, Director of Product Design and Project Management for Tesla Motors pulls back the curtain on Tesla design during a recent RKS Sessions design talk. While the talk and Q&A is mostly focused on the physical design of the vehicles,Verdura answers a question about the GUI design briefly at 29:14, queued above, in which he notes that Tesla’s UI design team is largely made up of Apple alumni.

Verdura next talks about the design process and how everything goes through CEO Elon Musk at the end – something that should remind people of how Steve Jobs’ Apple worked.

Whole talk here.

At the risk of sounding cliche Tesla Motors definitely chooses to “think different”. Just with the government would get out of their way and allow them to do direct to customer sales in all states

I think you’ll find that the government you are referring to is composed of legislators that have been bought by the Automobile Dealers Association. It’s about time to stop regurgitating these cliches about government in general and vote for people who represent the people’s interests.

You can blame most of the typical car manufacturers for that. They’re the ones lobbying the govt. to get involved and prevent Tesla from doing that. The traditional car manufacturers are the ones with the most money and “heritage” so their voices get heard far more than a disruptor like Tesla (or even the citizens). Isn’t American democracy wonderful?

  2. Can’t wait until Tesla releases their SDK and we get a slew of new apps on Teslas
