New pictures show off alleged iPhone 6 logic board, A8, and NFC chip

Apple’s Sept. 9 iPhone event may be just around the corner, but the leaks continue to flow. Custom iPhone creators Feld & Volk have shared a set of photos with Sonny Dickson that depict what is claimed to be the 4.7-inch iPhone 6’s logic board with an A8 processor and NFC chip in tow…

There’s no way to tell if these claims are legitimate, but as shown in the image above, the chip labeled with “NSD425” is said to be the NFC module from NXP. Along with that, there’s a side by side comparison between the A7 and upcoming A8 chip seated in their respective logic boards. There’s obviously no way to confirm if the parts shown in these photos are genuine, but Sonny Dickson has proven to be a reliable source for Apple-related information in the past and Feld & Volk have been on a roll lately with other leaks.

Another interesting point is that the Toshiba module part number shown in the top image lines up with current NAND chips. If you take a look at this chart, the “7” in the middle of the part number consistently matches up with 16GB modules. While this could indicate that Apple’s low-end iPhone 6 will ship with only 16GB of storage, it’s possible that the logic board shown here is just a prototype. Previously leaked schematics have also indicated that a 128GB iPhone 6 model could be arriving as well.

Apple is set to announce the iPhone 6 and possibly a new wearable on Sept. 9, 2014 at the Flint Center for the Performing Arts in Cupertino. Though new reports are claiming that while Apple’s wearable will be previewed at this upcoming event, it may not actually ship until 2015. Stay tuned for coverage.

    Great great great !

Our friends in the US will focus on the pros and cons of the NFC technology but for us in Europe it will mean that we will be soon able to walk into the store, gas station, restaurant etc and pay by tapping the mobile to the NFC enabled POS terminals that are everywhere (due to chip and pin credit cards as opposed to swipe and sign).

I think Apple will create momentum for mobile payments with early adopters of iPhone 6 and then put NFC also to the iWatch and that way give the mobile payments also to everyone else and help make iWatch a success.

My bank which is very innovative recently issued an app that allows to draw cash from ATM without a card (app generates a code that the ATM accepts) – in addition to an app that allows me to send small amounts of money to phone numbers. If we get NFC tap to pay I can stop carrying those pieces of plastic around completely;)

It depends where you are. They are extremely rare in France and Italy.
I wouldn’t like Apple using NFC. It’s inferior to BLE from all points of view and that would mean Apple bents to an inferior tech.

Agreed. Once again. I think apple will push bluetooth for payment system.

Thank you for your comment – I guess the picture even in Europe is more mixed than I thought.

I would also love to see superior tech from Apple but I would even more like 2014 to be the year of adoption, this debate has been going on for a long time now. For example Passbook is very cool but I havent been able to use it outside of couple of flight tickets, it would be nice for it all to come together finally.

I especially fear that the need to install BLE POS in the shops in countries where iPhone penetration is in single digits will be uphill battle. Lets hope apple can come up with some solution.

I never did get why chip and pin didn’t take off in the states. During a few transactions I wasn’t even asked for a signature, they just swiped and that was it when in NYC and San Francisco.

I think my bank has a £20 limit on contact less payments which is fine for a coffee but not that useful!

It was cool to buy a (rare) Macdonalds by just waving the card ………. Kinda

      Does it really matter?

      • superman2397 (@dkdleltn) - 10 years ago

it really matter at all. i can’t see web pages with many images.
some pages with many images make safari crashes.
android devices(my nexus 4/2GB ram) shows much better performances than my ipad air.
frankly, nexus 4 overwhelms iphone 5 when see webpage with many images.

I’ve never encountered a problem on my iPhone 5 but maybe I’m not going on the same sites as you.

    • o0smoothies0o - 10 years ago

Just letting you know, the numbers/letters don’t actually match any of those at all. Try actually comparing them before you assume things.

@superman2397 (@dkdleltn) : more silly pathetic lies to promote the Android frauds… Safari doesn’t crash. Your brain does.

Yeah it’s ignorance mixed in I’m sure. People are also fed false information and believe it because they are ignorant or unintelligent.
