Apple releases iOS 8.2 beta 5 to developers

iOS 8.2 beta 5

Apple has released the fifth beta to developers for the upcoming iOS 8.2 release. The update is available both over-the-air from the Settings app on iOS as well as through the iOS Dev Center. The release includes bug fixes and improvements.

Apple has also released Xcode 6.2 beta 5 with WatchKit with build number 6C121 on the iOS Dev Center. A new beta version of Apple TV software for Apple TV (third-gen) is also available through the iOS Dev Center. The new iOS 8.2 beta 5 release carries a build number of 12D5480a up from 12D5461b.

Previous releases of the iOS 8.2 beta have revealed Apple is bringing back data points to the Health app added with iOS 8, while the new version also includes short descriptions for measurements supported by the app.

iOS 8.2 will also add support for WatchKit and the Apple Watch. Earlier this month we detailed an upcoming companion app for the Apple Watch revealing new features and functionality of the upcoming device.

During Apple’s quarterly earnings call to discuss its holiday quarter, Apple CEO Tim Cook shared that the Apple Watch is on track to be released in April, which will interface with the iPhone and iOS 8.2.

Let’s see what’s new. Hopefully the final release fixes all the remaining major (and minor) issues in iOS 8.

I find the dot over the letter “i” to be distracting. Odd how it flies above capital letters.

Yeah i’m gonna be honest, I kinda hate the Apple Watch font.

    • Those “i” characters have been designed to be readable at very small sizes, as opposed to looking like an lowercase “l” when glanced at quickly. They are quite deliberate and I wouldn’t label them as distracting.

  7. Are they going to finally fix the issue with vibration patterns for new email and messages both being staccato despite new emails being set for quick? Its really annoying to hear my phone buzz and think I’m getting a message, only to find its just a spam email.

  8. Anyone having issues manually inputing your weight into the health app? I can’t seem to add and of my weights today.
