Apple releases iOS 8.3 beta 2 for iPhone, iPad with new Emojis, new Apple TV beta OS

Two weeks following the first beta, Apple has released iOS 8.3 beta 2 to developers for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. As we reported upon the first beta, the upcoming release includes a Wireless CarPlay feature, a new Emoji picker, improved login for Google services, an updated voice for Siri, and support for Apple Pay in China. iOS 8.3 is coming later this year, and sources say that Apple will release a public beta of iOS 8.3 alongside the third beta in mid-March. Apple is also working on iOS 8.4 with a new streaming music service and iOS 9.0 with bug fixes and performance enhancements as a tentpole feature. iOS 8.2, which currently stands at beta 5, will be released in March. There won’t be additional developer betas, sources say. Apple today also released a second beta of OS X 10.10.3 with the new Photos app. We’ll keep updating this post as new features are found in the latest beta. Apple has also released a new beta OS for the Apple TV.

They are not allowing iOS 8.3 Betas to update OTA while there are still iOS 8.2 Betas being published.

Why I Can’t Update via OTA? I’m still in iOS 8.3 beta 1…

    • noaht62 - 9 years ago

Yeah someone please tell us when it’s OTA

      • Andrew Osbaldeston - 9 years ago

hi there i downloaded it OTA at 5:30pm GMT with no problems

    • Måns Sandberg - 9 years ago

It takes very long time to download all betas when they are released at the same time, iOS OS X and Xcode, and this time we got ATV as well…
But there is a couple of reasons, of course, to release them at the same time

The first beta was fairly solid. Hoping this improves on the few remaining bugs. Looking good so far though.

Yes! I have been waiting for this in years! Siri now speaks Swedish!

    • appgarlaschelli - 9 years ago

alsolanguages like Thai, Dutch and others.. This is a big deal

      • appgarlaschelli - 9 years ago

Correct me if I’m wrong but I think Chinese (Mandarin – Taiwan), Danish, Dutch, English (India, New Zealand, Singapore), French (Canada), Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Swedish, Thai and Turkish are all the new ones

So will this be coming over the air?

    • tylercohn - 9 years ago

No this will not. Not until iOS 8.2 become a public build. If you want it, you have to download it via Apple’s developer site or find it elsewhere on the interwebs

Airplay Menu is no longer the size of a small window. It actually now scales to how many devices you have around you. Took them long enough to fix this.

I read elsewhere that the “(Beta)” was removed from the iCloud Photo Library settings.

  9. I hope this resolves the bug with keyboard shortcuts that block and/or crash whole iphone and ipad every 10 seconds…

  10. Did they fix data going over cellular while connected to WiFi yet? Noticed this bug popped up in iOS 8.1.
