Apple releases OS X 10.11.4 developer + public beta 5

One week after the last public beta and 9 days after the last developer beta, Apple has released OS X 10.11.4 beta 5 for both developers and public beta testers. The update is said to improve Mac stability, compatibility, and security. Focus areas mentioned include iBooks, Messages, Notes, and Photos.

Changes coming with OS X 10.11.4 include support for viewing and sharing Live Photos taken on iPhone 6s and 6s Plus through iMessage using the Messages app as well as the ability to password-protect items in the Notes app for the first time.

Apple is also making it easier to import text files and data from competing note-taking apps like Evernote into Notes with OS X 10.11.4. A new ‘Import Notes…’ option lets you easily migrate from Evernote to Apple Notes in just a few steps, and also lets you add .txt and .rtf text files into the app with iCloud syncing the data back to iPhones, iPads, and the web.

The update is also expected to resolve the issue with opening Twitter URL links in Safari.
