Just thinking out loud. The latest reporting implies that the new iPhone will have a flat (no curved edges) screen. Reports also say no pressure sensitive display.

I wonder if Apple will have a sapphire screen option? I doubt sapphire will work with pressure sensitivity. There was a huge amount of sapphire manufactured and earmarked for the iPhone 6 and this didn’t work out, perhaps in part because of the decision to later add pressure sensitivity. I would much rather have an unscratable screen than a pressure sensitive one and it would be much easier and far less cost prohibitive to make a 4 inch sapphire screen with no curved edges than the one we thought we might see in the iPhone 6.
