Apple today has shared its latest advertisement for the fourth-gen Apple TV. This ad, entitled “The Kiss,” focuses on the Siri Remote that ships with the device. The ad is a one minute long spot and comes on the heels of Apple announcing its first original TV series.

The ad features an appearance of HBO series Game of Thrones and shows using the Apple TV Siri Remote to do things like rewind content and find more content to watch. For instance, the remote is used to say “Siri, go back 7 seconds,” as well as “Siri, show me Game of Thrones.” Furthermore, Apple Music integration is highlighted, with the Siri Remote being used to play a song by artist Jeremih.

The new Apple TV, starring Siri. Now it’s easier than ever to enjoy your favorite movies, shows, music and apps.

The ad continues Apple’s trend of highlighting the Apple TV as ‘The Future of Television,” something it has been doing since the device launched last year. The ad ends with the color bars as used in the earlier ads for the fourth-gen Apple TV and seen around major cities like New York and LA.

What a weird ad, doesn’t really feel like an Apple ad.

I think that is a good thing.

I agree. Apple ads have been flat lately. Samsung has put out ads that remind me more of Apple ads of old- they’re much more playful and youthful.

Reminds me more of some of the Fire TV ads.

Agree – makes zero sense. Should fire the ad group that did that one. Reminds me of a Samsung commercial.

My Apple TV now gathers dust, as I’ve switched all my media streaming back to my PS4. Far more apps of note (Amazon, All4, Animax etc) and far higher quality apps (Netflix, iPlayer, Now TV, YouTube, Crunchyroll etc). Siri universal search is a waste of space outside America and the ATV app store is a car crash of fireplace apps and other detritus. The ATV 4 is sadly another failed Apple TV.

The Apple TV is certainly doomed.

Doesn’t it strike you as rather tragic that a games console (PS4 or XO) is a far, far better streaming box than Apple’s dedicated streaming device? The Apple TV has just one job, and it blew it. Without iTunes it would be completely worthless. Even a Roku stick blows it away where it counts.

I canceled comcast and use my AppleTV for music, movies, and TV exclusive. The money I save with cable alone has paid for the AppleTV.
