Apple shares new behind-the-scenes video of iPhone 6s Siri ad with the Cookie Monster

Last month, Apple unveiled a new commercial for the iPhone and always-on Siri, and now the company has shared a new video showcasing the behind-the-scenes process of making the video. “Go behind the scenes of the commercial, with Cookie Monster and everyone’s favorite personal assistant, Siri,” Apple teases.

The original ad, released last month, showcased the Cookie Monster using an iPhone 6s and hands-free Siri to make cookies. The Cookie Monster used hands-free Siri to control the timer while baking the cookies. In today’s new video, we get a closer look at the actual production process of the video. You can see some differences between the pre- and post-production videos, such as the differences in the Cookie Monster’s eyes.

The video also includes some footage that was not included in the original ad, which means that there could be potentially more advertisements from Apple that come starring the Cooke Monster, although we’ve only seen one so far.

Most recently, Apple shared a new Apple TV ad called “The Kiss” that focused on the Siri Remote and starred actress Allison Brie. The Siri Remote was used for saying things like “Siri, go back 7 seconds,” as well as “Siri, show me Game of Thrones,” while Apple Music was also highlighted.

  1. Every time this commercial airs, it triggers Siri on my iPhone and my iPad. It’s the only ad that does this, so far.

I’ve had that happen before with other Siri ads, but not since iOS 9 where it responds only to my voice. Maybe you sound like Cookie Monster? Now, my Amazon Echo on the other hand – I hear Alexa chiming in a couple of times a night when nothing I’m listening to on TV remotely sounded like the “Alexa” keyword that wakes up the Echo….

It not just him. My iPhone 6s Plus responds to that ad as well and have heard others say same thing. It is like the Cookie Monster voice was coded into it for the ad and it is in every ones phone as a recognized voice. Even crazier go to YouTube on the iPhone 6s and play the ad from there and the phone is triggered by it playing the ad. You’d think it would be smart enough to go that is coming out of my own speaker ignore it.

Sorry dude. I just tried to get it to work, but even after cupping my hand to the speaker to route more audio to the mic, it still doesn’t trigger Hey Siri for me and it’s never been triggered from TV shows or podcasts, just my voice and occasionally something else I say that’s not hey Siri but might be similar. Maybe you should try to recalibrate your Hey Siri?
