Cardiogram brings heart rate graph to watchOS as Zepp Golf Swing Analyzer lands on Apple Watch

Two new interesting watchOS apps are out this week that could add some usefulness to the Apple Watch. Cardiogram uses the heart rate sensor to provide your heart rate history directly on your watch, and Zepp Golf Swing Analyzer turns your watch into a game coach.

On its own, Apple Watch reads your heart rate regularly in the background but only appears in workouts and from the heart rate glance. Viewing a history of your data means using the Health app back on the iPhone.

But watchOS 2 lets apps access sensors including the heart rate sensor, and Cardiogram leverages that capability to create a heart rate graph that you can view on Apple Watch. Another feature of native apps is the ability to include watch face complications, and Cardiogram now does just that so you can see a recent heart rate reading and time just by glancing at the time.

Here’s Cardiogram’s full list of changes:

Cardiogram 1.0 has a redesigned UI, native Apple Watch app, and more. New features:
* Apple Watch complication
* Native WatchOS 2 app — see your heart rate graph directly on your Apple Watch
* Redesigned heart rate charts with pinch-to-zoom
* Search
* Your move, exercise, and stand goals show up on the new Metrics pane

Cardiogram is available for free on the App Store.

And just in time for summer (and Father’s Day), the Zepp Golf Swing Analyzer iPhone app has an Apple Watch companion that presents streamlined data without you needing to look at your iPhone. The new app shows you swing metrics, change clubs, and view swing history when you golf and your iPhone is paired with a Zepp 1 or Zepp 2 sensor ($99-$149).

Here’s Zepp’s full list of changes in the latest version:

– New Apple Watch features to streamline data review
– Capture swings from any screen
– Improved sensor connectivity and automatic reconnection
– Notification to confirm when offline sync is complete
– Sensor users launch directly to Training Tab
– Updated Club / Hand / Plane buttons

Zepp Golf Swing Analyzer is available for free on the App Store.
