Brushed Metal iMacs Dropping at August 7th EventSubmitted by Cleve Nettles on Mon, 06/04/2007 - 03:43.
Edit: It looks like Apple is late to the game on this one. Expect this update to occur at the August 7th event. Apple is set to unleash a new iMac design that will utilize the company's trademark "Brushed Metal" look. One inside source claimed that the new iMacs would utilize the Santa Rosa Chipset and could top out at a larger size than the current 24 inch display. More likely however, the iMacs will continue to keep their 17, 20 and 24 inch sizes. Additionally, the design will resemble the current Cinema Display more than the current iMacs with the extra hang below the screen minimized. There is no word yet on whether or not Apple will return to its color iMac designs but hypothetically, they could end up with the same sort of surface as the current iPod Nano line. . The new iMacs are set to be priced similar to the current lineup and will hit the shelves shortly after August 7th. What else will get updated on August 7th? Edit: obviously this picture is just a Mac Pro with a screen - the new iMacs will look nothing like this but look what we've found below! (its a joke - the images not the content- people)

No height adjustment for the
No height adjustment for the sake of aesthetics? When will Apple stop compromising user options for idiot-proof products that can't be properly used by professionals?
By the way, when will the mouse pointer acceleration problem be fixed in OSX? It's getting kinda ridiculous.

The iMac isn't targetted at professionals and I doubt, very much, that the lack of vertical height adjustment in the transition from the G4 iMac to the G5 and Intel models prevented any sales. I've had professional photographers complain to me that the 20" iMac's weren't color accurate enough for them to use - to which I replied stop being a cheap old coot and go buy a (at the time PowerMac) Mac Pro with a monitor suitable for what you need. A monitor that costs more than the entire price of an iMac isn't uncommon in professional land.
And I won't even bother replying to the statement about mouse pointers. Dude, just use Google and your brain once in a while. If you really need professional grade equipment chances are you won't be using an Apple provided mouse and any other mouse with configure itself with a different acceleration value - something you can change yourself in system preferences.
Nice way to ignore a comment....
Ehrm, so you say you "won't even bother replying to the statement about mouse pointers" and then launch into a lengthy response to it....?
Lol you showed him. good job
Lol you showed him. good job *grins cheekily and gives you a high five*

The imac isn't targeted at the "profesional" crowd.

sweet idea
that'd be an AMAZING case mod for a mac pro...i might just do that
New Cinema displays perhaps
This looks like it's a cinema display, perhaps a new LED backlight version. I actually like the feet on both sides - it'll let me tuck my keyboard away when I need to.

C'mon guys, you think they are really gonna eliminate the ability to adust the screen angle?? That would be stoopid!
maybe...
true, but if you look at the curved bit at the bottom, that could easily be made into a hinge, which could easily be disguised.
iMac
I'm just mulling whether to buy a new Macbook Pro or the 24" iMac.
I think i'll hold off until after WWDC.....
lol, t3h nice idea but bad
lol, t3h nice idea but bad photoshop work, teh reflektion is teh fat
Please no
I really hope they don't put a foot like that on any iMac as it make it look like crap. It looks like the old cinema display and I hated those feet.
I want to be able to use a VESA mount so I hope the new iMac supports them.
I would love to see a new
I would love to see a new iMac design, possibley in black, but power definitely takes president over aesthetics. 8)
Well...
Predicting looks...
You are forgetting that no one has ever predicted what a new Mac product will look like - its going to be new and radical like everything else.
But man, I want the original colours back (even if its just in the "apple" logo.
fake!!
sincerely I believe that a backward movement in design is not going to
be as well as the serious photo. the screen does not move and 90
degrees would always have left.
I believe that if removes new imac, she must have some type of touchscreen, and if she is metalized is so that he is expandible in video, a species of imacpro.
sorry for my english, im argentine.
not true
this cant be true, look at the size of it, its like 1ft deep, almost like someone photoshoped a screen onto the side of a mac pro?
Nice try Think Even more
Nice try Think Even more Like theh Cinema Displays!
When?
Any news on the release date for the UK? Am looking to get a 20" iMac but if they are going to get release in the next few months I'll wait.
Any day now.
Just a matter of time.
it looks fat
I hate those legs! they make the mac look all bulgy. apple always makes there imacs have a special feature. like the keyboard would float and the speakers looked like bowling balls. or, the super adjustable screen, like the "2e" imac.
I-Sight
does it have an i-sight like all the macs have these days??
wake up people
that pic is just a mockup, don't get your panties in a wad . . . .
Seriously you guys sound
Seriously you guys sound like a bunch of idiots. THIS IS NOT WHAT IT WILL LOOK LIKE.
