Is this the same person that told him about the Apple LCD TV's? Jason Calacanis is an asshat and should never be counted on for rumors.
I'm guessing that's not all it will run based on the Gizmodo article. I think the device will connect via Bluetooth, Wi Fi, 3GS to a "base" computer allowing the user to use whatever operating system the host runs. The educational version could be used in the Medical/Business areas where a Webcam might be frowned upon.
It could be used to view streamed media via a connection to the Apple TV, a SlingSlate if you will. This might have movie execs. excited about it as an entertainment device.
The Mystery Project name that required Gizmodo to look it up on Google? My guess: Tabula Rasa, in English, a blank slate. Something that conforms to your needs.
Jason Calcanis is a joke! Period.
I think Jason is a very good business man and self promoter, unfortunately that does have the side effect of making him rather unlikeable at times. As far as being a tipster I'm affraid that its all self publicity.
I still firmly belive that that it will run snow leopard and that was why snow leopard was reduced in size by such a large amount and also accounts for the delays. Steve wants it to be quick and capable with great battery life and that means he needs the right processor and as such they still havent got the right one.
