Q: What's Cool about Safari?
With yesterday's 10.4.11 update, Safari for Windows update and, of course, lots of people upgrading to Leopard, most Safari users will be on the Webkit 3 platform. To celebrate, Ars points us to the Surfin' Safari Weblog's top 10 new things in WebKit 3 (the open source basis for Safari). They basically boil down to speed improvements and added features.
To paraphrase:
1. Enhanced Rich Text Editing
2. Faster JavaScript and DOM
3. Faster Page Loading
4. SVG
5. XPath
6. New and Improved XML Technologies
7. Styleable Form Controls
8. Advanced CSS Styling
9. Reduced Memory Use
10. Web Developer Tools
With three of the most exciting emerging platforms, Google's Android, Adobe Air and Symbian also adopting Webkit, the Safari platform's future looks bright.

Great point - adding - thanks!
"1. Enhanced Rich Text Editing"
I love Safari, but please Webkit people, fix autocomplete addresses in GMail, this is very annoying!!
They do all this cool stuff to Safari yet they still haven't added a "new tab" button! C'mon Apple!
Try pressing T on Windows or T on Mac...
That was supposed to be Control T on Windows or Command T on Mac
I know, but I want a button! Most browsers have it and it seems such a weird thing to leave out. I'm a Windows switcher (2005) so I don't use keyboard shortcuts, it's all buttons and right-clicks for me!
i also switched to mac in 05 and i would die without my keyboard shortcuts. it makes everything seamless for me. i dont even have to think about what im doing with mac my fingers are already ahead of me. my advice... learn some basic shorcuts. like... command shift A = apps command delete = delete to trash command shift delete= empty trash command tab= switch program command q = quit program... why use a mouse when you can do everything with the keyboard?
yay for khtml
Try Right Click on the Tab bar
Try double clicking the Tab bar.
Thanks but no thanks, I'll stick with Firefox, it is way more expandable and I use too many add-on's to ever think about switching back to Safari.
most importantly (for me) they added custom mouse buttons support. i use the side buttons on my logitech mx510 to navigate forth and back through my history. its such a habit i couldnt work with safari without it. i requested it and they implemented it.
thanks apple!
One welcome feature to the new Safari is the auto-resize feature for pictures. Now pictures are resized to fit into the window with the option to zoom to full resolution. Thank you finally.
How do you disable these tooltips, and what happened to the blue buttons?
But why do i get a message if its oke to quit when i want to quit (with 5 tabs open) its so windowssssssss. If I press command -q I want to quit, period.
Can i disable this bug, i mean feature?
As long as there is not something like googlesync for safari for windows, it is basically useless.
The new Safari crashes m ore often than the Beta... i don't know what's wrong...:/
