I think it will be a PoS that will cost $500 and be saddled with Vista. The only way this thing is going to be groundbreaking is if it runs a solid version of Linux.
A luxury goods publication appears to have some early marketing collateral from Dell for Adamo. “Rumor has it that Dell is coming out with a computer called Adamo that will rival the MacBook Air,” Uptownlife.net writes.
But most telling of all might have been the reaction of Michael Tatelman, Dell’s vice president in charge of consumer sales and marketing, to my question about whether or not Dell had an Air-like product in store. Mr. Tatelman’s mouth gaped open and his eyes darted away from my face.
If looks could reveal product dimensions, then I’d guess that Dell’s going even thinner and lighter than Apple.

For the old people who remembers the song that came with the "Love Boat" TV show, I'll say; "Love is in the Air."
One year after the introduction of the Air (plus the introduction of the brick processing)... and we got the first "Air killer!"
This is called "fast response."
In May 1968, the student and workers rebellion in Paris show graffittis in the walls. One told us; "Action must come from creation, not from reaction,"
Adamo will be an apple killer. Adamo and his friend marcel amont will create such an amazing buzz with linux and vista on the zabouromok forum,
long live adamo the mereukou and the blid.
Adamo from dell, perfect for the brel
"Apple needs to be taught a lesson and dive into the $300-$500 market". What lesson would that be? How to destroy your brand and be known for producing cheap pieces of crap? That's why we have Dell and the rest.
I suppose next you will be pushing for Hyundai to teach Mercedes-Benz, Lexus and BMW a lesson in how to make inexpensive luxury cars. No wait! Inexpensive luxury would be an oxymoron.
I think they're heading along the lines of the old Adam & Eve story ... Adamo is going to take a bite out of the Apple market, could Dell be an Apple killer, no, but they want a piece of the action. Lame name though, far too obvious.
Maybe ist AdamO their own operating system. They're probably running out of XP licenses and afraid of the new Microsoft!
=)
Dude, these captcha are frustrating to say the least!
What is it, you ask? Why its that black thing on the screen. Just close your eyes and imagine the vista of feasting upon all of its dark matter goodness. After all we cannot prove it exists but we know its there!
Why must you hate on Dell so much? Is Apple not becoming the next behemoth, the next Microsoft, the next Dell? So many aspects of their products are proprietary, expensive, and I know it's hard to admit, but very flawed just like many other computers.
iPhone: Horrible camera, no video, no copy and paste! Come on, the very company that once had a commercial bashing Windows for not providing satisfactory default programs for photos and movie making in their OS has arguably the worst camera of the next gen smartphones?!
MacBook Pro: Operating problems if you extend your RAM to the maximum allowable, computer makes a whining noise (similar to this rant) while running, and also the sytem locks up when a second monitor is added.
I like Mac's. I like PC's. I don't like the fanboy Mac heads who loose all reason and discernment so that the uber simplistic Apple sticker they put on their VWs will somehow mean something more than what it does -- proof they paid more for their computer than a PC owner.
Ok, that last line was a cheap shot, but for the record, I've owned a first-gen 15" PowerBook and liked it, but definitely had just as many problems with it as my PC. I still own a Mac Mini, and like it. In addition, I own a PC as well, and like it.
Mac is unique, indeed, but they are still a business; one that wants to be just as large and ominous as Microsoft and Dell. Chill out a bit Macster's, just because the Mac ad has Einstein, or Bono, or some other genius/cool type on it doesn't mean you're one level up on the evolutionary scale.

Nah, Linux is very solid.

Cool product names
I think Dell should spend more time coming up with cool and descriptive product names like XPS M1530 and XPS 420.

Challening MacBooks
What ever it is, to be a MacBook challenger it needs to run Mac OS X.

Ever heard of Hackintosh? If this thing is going to be reasonably priced (ie not more than a macbook pro!) then I'd go for it in a heartbeat.

Just remember to never apply an update of any kind.
Adamo
Why would Dell offer a MacBook Air competitor at $500. That would be of no benefit to their bottom line.
My guess competitive specs and $100 cheaper. That's the only sensible placement that will have a positive impact on GP.
A $500 placement would only take market share from their own line of el cheapo offers.
