Should Apple be more transparent on permitted App Store apps?

Apple needs to police the apps just so there some level of quality and consistency, however, I really resent the fact that Apple doesn't let apps compete with their features. If someone creates an app that cheaper or better then Apple has to offer, Apple needs to take that as a wake up call.

As the only way to get apps on you iPhone is by using the app store, then they need to allow all programs. (ok to ban programs that is spyware, or anyother way harmfull to the device and/or user)

If they do not want to allow that, then they need to allow app that do not comes from the app store.

At the moment you can use cydia to get ther programs that is not on the app store.
But then you have to jailbrak you phone. and Apple don't realy allow that, so not a real solution.

Also the iTunes App store is slow.
Like they do not allways have te bandwide for all the request.
And I realy miss a web interface reather then the iTunes way to look at the apps.

I agree with the market forces option, but there should be a penalty for uploading apps that no one likes or has very limited use. If the app receives 1 star or very few downloads the developer should receive a warning to improve the app and/or remove it or it will be removed for them. The android platform will suffer from the widespread abuse of the totally unrestricted app store. Apple's app store can benefit from having some regulation, hopefully it would be transparent regulation.
