Apple is the Cat

Apple is the cat"It's a constant cat and mouse game -- we have the same thing with the iPod with music." Steve looks at O2's CEO, "Are we the cat or mouse? We have to stay one step ahead of them."

YEAH RIGHT. Apple further solidified its position as the BIG FEROCIOUS CAT today by taking out the webserver where the iPod Touch software was to be placed.  Exactly what is in there that is so secret is on everyone's mind.  This latest move will only spark the curiosity of many more little mouse hackers.

Does anyone else see this ending the way every Tom and Jerry cartoon ended (no not the Hannah Barbara one's where they were friends)?

HAHAHAHA! Great point. I

HAHAHAHA! Great point. I think Jerry is about to hit Tom over the head with a frying pan

Oh my God people! When did

Oh my God people! When did those writing for 9to5 Mac become such whiners!? Really people, get a grip, if Apple sees fit to protect their copyrighted materials and consumers (Hackers may have already turned numerous iPhones into bricks) so be it... Last I checked, this is America, a country governed by laws and principles, so Back Off!

last I checked this wasn't

last I checked this wasn't America and here people believe in REAL freedom! :D

Typical America bashing...

Typical America bashing... Not even going to touch that... However, given the headquarters of Apple is in the USA, and given the rights extended to any individual or corporation by the DCMA of 1995, of course Apple has the right to protect their copyright. The 'hackers' are deceiving Apple consumers, ruining their devices, and Apple is not only protecting their financial interests, but the interest of consumers.

Correction "DMCA"

Correction "DMCA"

agreed, you are really

agreed, you are really missing the point(s). We are not whining about DRM we are saying that when given a choice, we choose no DRM and Apple better figure this out and quick. 9to5mac are not blind apple fanboys. When we stuff we like about apple we say it.

If apple does some fucked up shit we will call them out. Don't blindly follow some coorperation because they make pretty things that make you feel good for being different Bryan

hahaha. What a typical

hahaha. What a typical American. Dumb and proud of it.

bryan you are an idiot.

bryan you are an idiot. thats not the point.

Being a programmer, I would

Being a programmer, I would be pissed off if someone cracked my program and offered the source online for my competitors to steal ideas from.
Get real people. Apple is a profit making organisation and does not want its intellectual property exposed online!

Did anyone force you to

Did anyone force you to purchase or use an I-Phone? You bought a Volvo, but whine about them not delivering a SAAB.

As has been noted in

As has been noted in previous comments, many people have already royalty screwed themselves over by hacking their iPhones to kingdom come. There is certainly an element of intellectual property protection in effect with this latest act, but have you ever thought that perhaps Apple is protecting iPod Touch owners from their own harm.
PS I'm not some "blind Apple fanboy" but I know that Apple does take care of its own.
PSS I do agree with Steve--Apple is, no doubt, in the business of making money. They have every right to do something to protect that. And YES that is the point. Apple being allowed to protect their business is certainly the point.

Apple should certainly

Apple should certainly protect their business. The best way to do that is to make happy customers. The best way to do that is increase the amount of funtionality a device they sell has without sacrificing the reliability. If you think that Apple is doing that (i.e. no email on the Touch) then we have a sweet bridge to sell you.

If Apple doesn't keep up

If Apple doesn't keep up with the functionality, aka software, then someone else will.
We have already seen awesome clones (ahem.. Meizu M8, Prada, and Armani phones), and other companies are catching on, and up, to apples amazing hardware.
The Battle Ground is hardware, the fight is won with software.

I'd rather that Apple let

I'd rather that Apple let you people screw up your iPod Touch's as much as you want, but accept no responsibility for it. That way, you can make your iPod Touch as much as mess as Windows.

We older Apple customers aren't likely to hack their systems into being unusable the way that you will. You all seem to be Linux and Windows users new to Apple. You haven't learned to appreciate the Apple way. So, hack away so long as you accept the consequences.

Don't blame Apple if you get an iBrick. Apple is not required to support your fancies.

Louis it's 20 years I've

Louis it's 20 years I've been using macs so I suppose I can fit in the "We older Apple customers" category you mentioned but, forgive me, I am very bloody likely to hack/mod/customize any iPhone/iPod/MacBook et al that I may own one day or another ...not saying you should too... just saying one thing doesn't exclude the other... and life is much more interesting if you experiment and not remain confined into the path set by others. Plus don't believe all the stuff you're told ... the iPhone decerebrating into a brick as a quasi certain result to a hack to liberate it from network lock is bullshit that they have to say not to lose face with their current (AT&T) and prospective (european+asian) partners...

Louis, we don't think you

Louis, we don't think you represent the majority of older Mac users. Most of the experienced Mac users we know are the hackers. You understand that Coverflow was a "hack" until Apple bought it and put it into nearly everything right?

So was most of the other innovation that has occurred in the computing world.

To say that you accept whatever Apple says happily (The Apple way) probably puts you in a small minority.

That isn't to say we don't respect your opinions on these topics
