Two France Apple Store locations announced
According to IfoAppleStore, Apple has not only confirmed the existence of the long-rumored Carousel de Louvre Apple Store location but also announced the opening of a new, unexpected location in the university city of Montpellier. Nestled along the Mediterranean Coast, Montpellier is home to 225,000 residents, and another 225,000 in the metro area, not to mention lots of tourists. Have a look at the likely retail area, Place de la Comédie, below. Not too shabby!

Update: A commenter points to the "Odysseum" a huge mall (ugh) in Montpellier. We are still rooting for the Place de la Comédie location. Maybe where that MacDo currently is.

Montpellier, 225000 residents, 120000 students... hype city whith open minded peoples who love design and all kind of culture. The best place to install an applestore after Paris.
Perfect locations for me: one in Paris where I now live, one in Montpellier when I go to see my parents (in case one new apple product emerge when I'm in vacation). (^-^)
The more likely location of the AppleStore in Montpellier is a huge shopping center opening at the "Odysseum" retail & entertainment park, supposed to open in summer 09. Check the link below for a map of "Odysseum". The AppleStore should be somewhere in number 28 on the map.

Montpellier ????
What a strange choice for the first Apple store in France !
After the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris, a much better choice would have been Aix-en-Provence, one of the most french city with the largest number of students and with a much larger share of international students than Montpellier.
It also has the advantage of being close to Marseille (the second largest city in France) to attract many customers and far enough from Marseille its avoid violent suburban population.
More info on the potential location of the AppleStore Montpellier at:
http://www.serm-montpellier.fr/fr/contenu/realisation_nouv_porte.htm
It shows a more precise map of the whole "Odysseum" entertainment & shopping center, and mentions 12 "specialized" brands will share a modern 12,350 square meters (about 133,000 square feet) surface. In other words, plenty of room for quite a big AppleStore in a location full of people who have money and come for fun!
In a local newspaper (Midi Libre, published Thursday 19th 2009, in a full page coverage, confirm the Odysseum location and a tentative opening date for the 24th september.
