Engadget points us at an Apple ad listing detailing the need for Touch interface QA personnel. The interesting part is that the job states that it is for iPod and Mac Touch interfaces.
This jibes with Steve Jobs' earlier hints that Touch was coming to Macs.
And soon.
It really feels like everything is coming together for a Macworld launch though we've had no definitive proof that Apple is ready to go. But with this job opening news, it is no longer an if, but a when. Obviously, keep an eye on this space.

If they NOW started to search for Mac Touch designer, I don't really think they will make it to this MacWorld... MacWorld 2009, maybe
Not a designer, but QA
Not a designer, but QA position - at least according to this posting.

Doesn't matter, late january is when I'm ready to buy.... sweet!
So you are meaning that
So you are meaning that there is no trackpad at all!
This leads to two questions
1 - This things gonna have touchscreen then!
2 - Then we will absolutely need an external mouse to move the cursor around if not using the touchscreen (like when editing photos, working on CAD, etc...)
Whoot... waiting to see this in January @ MacWorld 2008 - I'LL BE THERE!!!

as much as I want a 15" TouchBook Pro; I'd *so* go for a 13" one.
and screw my need for a bigger screen to run Aperture on. :-/
the point is, they better have something, anything, out on Macworld '08!

If this were added to the
If this were added to the MacBooks, how would this be useful to the average laptop user? Apart from the basic photo editing techniques, it's hard to foresee how this would enhance the average Internet browsing or office work.
That would be cool

Hmm, am I the only one
Hmm, am I the only one that's not even remotely excited about this? Touch pads are only useful in small devices such as the Iphone and Ipod, places where a mouse and keyboard aren't practical. You've already got the tools you need for your laptop...it's called a keyboard and touchpad. It's nifty, you can use it anywhere!
A tablet Mac? - But without
A tablet Mac? - But without the need for a stylus.
It's possible also that Apple has recognised Microsoft Surface and has looked to beat them to the market but in the form of a computer/notebook/tablet.
I am hopeful and excited.
I am hopeful and excited. I have a tablet PC that I try to work with for certain parts of my creative process because placing the pen direct to screen gives me the best feel for drawing and editing illustrations. Otherwise I use Macs and it is not fun trying to move back and forth between Windows and OS X. If I could keep it all on the Apple platforms I know I would be ecstatic and spend a lot less time wasted with Windows or trying to figure out if Linux will ever work with my components properly.

If you've got the cash you can have a Mac Tablet now, it even uses topline Wacom parts for the digitizer. http://www.axiotron.com/index.php?id=modbook But it is fairly pricy http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/Modbook?CFID=971262&CFTOKEN=90929937&jsessionid=90308804992d551a1618 .
oh boy, please new macbook,
oh boy, please new macbook, have a normal trackpad. been waiting to buy a macbook til the new one comes out. if it doesnt have a trackpad, i'll feel grosly screwed. like said in previous comments... how fked up would it be to work the internet or office apps if you dont have a trackpad..."something strange about the trackpad" - sounds like it is still there. If i had to guess i'd say they make the trackpad a small lcd screen with touchpad function, so you have custom buttons for certain apps. But on the other hand, that seems kinda clumsy with so many apps out there that don't support it.If the "something strange" is too extraordinary i'll buy a refurbished black macbook the day after. With a nice discount of course. Come to think of it, i might do that anyway. Who's with me?
interesting
Mac and Steve Jobs are pretty innovative...this post shows its only a matter of when now indeed
