According to the German news magazine "Der Spiegel," the trick is a hot plate under the table.
Snopes also reports that it is fake: http://www.snopes.com/science/cookegg.asp
very nice video editing trick! in the very last one you can see the popcorn popping in a different place than where the kernals are sitting. good try though.
This is probably fake. But actually, cell phones are extremely bad for your brain. That is not conspiracy paranoia, but simply a little known fact. Read up on it,
Especially:
Always use a headset.
Never have it in your pocket close to your reproductive organs since they are extra sensitive.
Never have your phone turned on, next to your bed, when you sleep.
Keep the phone away from you body or head when it is dialing up making a connection, that is when it will always go full blast.
When mi Sony Ericsson fails an atepmt to make a call and does an automatic redial a message appears on screen saying to keep away from your head ofr signal will be very strong until the attepmt is succesful.
Fake. I had used a cell fone since b4 it was papular to dew sew and my brian is fine. Your all skared of a big phat liers! Their is nuthing a cell phone can dew to hirt you.
This is fake, it's using a hotplate underneath the table. BUT. Would you use a microwave oven without a door? Did you know the wiresless runs within the same frequency range as a microwave oven? I'd rather worry about that!
giggle, they once did a test and you couldn't cook an egg with a hundred cellphones... and that cellphones being "extremely bad" for your brain is a "little known fact" is poppycock, studies on human brains were inconclusive, or no causation could be concluded... it is bad for ganglia in worms though...
How can this be a hot plate and yet be timed so well with the cell phone ringing and the pop? For that matter, I can't see how enough heat would transfer through the table without it burning! And video editing tricks? Hardly! "you can see the popcorn popping in a different place than where the kernals are sitting." Yeah... it's POPPING CORN that moves quite fast once popped! Personally, I'm fed up with cell phone users especially you moronic cell phone DRIVERS!! SHUT UP AND DRIVE FOR F#$% SAKES!
You guys actually posted this video? And with a *hope* that it's fake? Wow. This is just as bad as the time you posted the Pres. Bush video stating that he has broken copyright laws because he had the Beatles on his ipod. Seriously...
A friend emailed that to me this morning. My response: The peak output from a digital cell phone's antenna is about 0.3W. I used to use a 3W bag-phone when I was doing remote field work (those old style Motorola's where you had a handset that went to the base in a little satchel that you could carry around and plugged into your ligter plug). If this was even remotely real I'd have burns on my arms and legs from come into close contact with it from time to time.
Plus compare 4 * 0.3W to 700W+ in a microwave oven, which is using a frequency optimized for transfering the energy into the water in the kernels (what makes popcorn pop) and this is popping the corn faster than I'd get in a microwave?
Fake: I looked up on the different phones user's manual, and DID NOT find any cooking device. Don't u think the manufacturers would advertize BEFORE launching such a great and usefull new device, huh???
But watch out for next gen Nokia: still unconfirmed, but I heard there'll be a little fan behind the ear speaker hole. You dig? A hair dryer!!
