The CAMpanion is here to enhance your GoPro

Less than an hour after the launch of the Kickstarter campaign, the CAMpanion was selected as a Kickstarter staff pick, and it is not hard to see why. The much hyped GoPro is known the world over as the extremist’s diary. What a skier used to only be able to recount verbally can now be shared in glorious 4K around the world with friends and strangers alike.

The GoPro has been developed since its founding to be the top choice of the Surfer, the Biker,  and the Boarder. The resolution, the frames per second, the wide lens, and the image processing all being improved with each generation of camera in a tiny and incredibly rugged case. The GoPro channel on YouTube thriving on the content generated by GoPro users is a testament to both the intensity of the “Heroes” and of the GoPro itself.

Which brings me back to the CAMpanion. The GoPro is an incredible camera, capable of so much more than being just an “extreme action camera.”

The CAMpanion recognizes this truth and beautifully converts your GoPro into a Point-&-Shoot camera for everyday use. It is essentially a mount for two devices, your GoPro and your smartphone, and its simple and compact design makes it compatible with all smartphones and all GoPros.

By combining your smartphone and GoPro in such a way, the CAMpanion instantly becomes your ideal camera for everyday use. The smartphone connects via the GoPro app and serves as a viewfinder, control panel, flash, and comfortable grip. The device also allows you to shoot action / reaction video which you can later edit together and share so that you can see yourself in the moment.

The CAMpanion is selling for $20 at the early bird tier and $30 at the Kickstarter classic tier, a discount from the $40 retail which will be available after the end of the Kickstarter campaign, and these rewards are planned to ship 15 to 45 days after the close of the Kickstarter. For those that don’t want to wait, there is a 3D printable file of the CAMpanion available for $5. For those wishing to meet the CAMpanion team, there is also a $10,000 reward for an all expenses paid trip to Karpathos, Greece, where the CAMpanion team will spend the week with you enjoying all the island has to offer: Scuba diving, wind or kite surfing, rock climbing, mountain biking, world renowned cuisine, and luxury hotel accommodations.

The Kickstarter will be live through February and March here.
