Tired of Lightening Cable Ripping! Please Apple!

Ugh, is anyone else annoyed of their lightening cable ripping at the SAME EXACT SPOT every time. They’re not cheap to replace either! It’s really annoying. I went on Amazon and bought some generic cables, and they burned out one of my iPads (Luckily Apple Care had me covered).

So I continued my research and found the CableCast. Its said to prevent the Lightening Cable from ripping, so i gave it a try (It’s inexpensive anyways). Wow was I amazed, I don’t remember the last time i was out buying a lightening cable. This thing is literally a miracle. Thought i would pass on the tip to everyone here. In the meantime, until apple figures something out, here is where you can get one

$5 for a piece of foam is cheap? They should sell a pack of 5 for that price then it would be cheap!

It’s not foam! It’s Plastic, the packaging reads “PLA” but i’m not quite sure. Anyhow, it’s plastic. Kind of like the same material as a toothbrush

Still not worth it. Really. I can see $1 to even $2.50 but the price point is too high. These can be easily replicated so just wait until Tanga.com has a 5 pack of them.

Well, i went to go buy some for the cables at the office, and it looks like they wen’t down $1. I’m not sure if they’re reading these forums or not, but hey, better for us!

“Lightening Cable?” Apple’s charging cable is called a Lightning Cable.

Ummm, you’re not supposed to pull on any cable of any kind ever, but pull on the actual fatter plug part. That’s like something you learn as a little kid folks… The lighting port is very tight on purpose so that it lasts for years, unlike microUSB which becomes loose and wobbly after a few months. Pull by the actual plug, not the wire, general rule, for all electronics, since the beginning of time!

Very true, however, my tear didn’t happen by pulling on the wire, it happened by standing the phone upright while charging, for say, texting in bed, etc.

Continuously bending a cable at a harsh angle will fray and break it?? How outrageous! Clearly, Apple is the one at fault here.

Lightening is what happens to a pregnant woman…………………

how about not pulling the cable to disconnect it and actually pulling from the actual plug? I’ve never had to replace any single one of them.
