iTunes DRM Music era ends tomorrow
As we've been saying over and over (and over) again, Apple is set to end the era of DRM music. We've been hearing it will be at Macworld but we're now getting confirmation both from our sources and from CNet that it is going to happen. This is turning out to be one heckuva Macworld keynote. Even without Stevo, it looks like Apple wants to go out with a bang.

the best part will be if everything is encoded at 256
BOOM!
256 bit encoding
If true then I'll probably start to buy from iTunes rather than Amazon.
This will be great but what about our old libraries. It would be nice to get free upgrades. Got a feeling it won't happen though.

I see two possibles solutions to this --if it ever comes--:
1) to replace them in a timely manner, like 10% each week/month. No server farm could ever support 300billions songs download over a weekend.
2) to release iTunes 8.1... that frees your purchased songs in your computers. It is easier to cop with millions of iTunes' software updates,
On the other hand, I'm sure that someone would ask also for a return-of-my-money when some purchased songs' price go down,
I never liked iTunes on any platform. Good to see Apple catching up on DRM.
