After today's many iPhone fiascos, and coming home to an AppleTV that is booting up to a Mac OS X (Apple TV) login prompt - which is impossible to do without a keyboard), I'm not sure my fanboy devotion will ever be as strong as it was a week ago.

Apple better find a way to make amends to the thousands (10's of thousands? more?) of people that got pissed off at them over the last few days over Mobile Me outages, iPhone lines, activations not working, etc, etc, or the bad press will be very damaging.

Last year they managed to deflect most of the activation ill will towards AT&T, but this year, it's the long lines and activations that wouldn't work AT THE APPLE STORE that people will be talking about.

Lines were long because unlike the iPhone 1.0, this one took 15 minutes to get once you actually got in the store.
While I waited hours in a 500 person line for the first iPhone, once the sales began, it moved very quickly and was done.

That same line this time around would have taken DAYS to process.

Not everything's back on track yet - I've been desperately waiting to get my iPod Touch update today, only to receive varying messages everytime i click the update button... "new software is ready to download" to "cannot connect to itunes store" and back to "your software 1.1.4 is up to date" - whats going on Apple? I've been round this loop a hundred times today, and still to no avail!

What do you mean back online? I am trying to update my iPod touch and iTunes just keeps doing nothing. No error. No update. Maybe I'll just go back to touching myself for fun...

iPod touch update still not coming... but no error message... it just goes to a blank itunes page... which closes right away.

No problems for me. I updated my girlfriend's phone to 2.0, and I managed to buy an iPhone from the local Apple store. Both worked great without issue in performance or reliability.

My colleagues where I work had similar experiences.

Clearly some other users had a different experience. Perhaps it was a regional network problem?

Where are the updates for the iPod Touch. I haven't seen ANY coverage other than comments! The only mention of the Touch problem on any of the major Mac fan sites are about the iPhone problems and that they are fixed.

What about the TOUCH its bad enough that we don't get any love from Apple...hello $10 charge. But the fact that NONE of the major apple sites are covering it is even worse!

Get off your asses MAC media and cover the iPod Touch problems!

Boy Genius had a link on their website last night for the 2.0 update, so I've had the apps since 5:00 last night :P

Or you can all chill out for a couple of days and let the bugs get worked out. Damn. Getting bent out of shape because you couldn't stand another day of hype without your 3G iPhone. Yes, it's exciting. And Apple has perfected the pre-release hype like no other, but bad experiences were bound to happen. And yes, it's still AT&T's fault. Do you think it was Apple insisting on in-store activation? That decision was mega-retarded and could only have been demanded by AT&T (and make sure you have your social security number when you purchase!). Retarded. No retail business wants to limit their sales to 30 at a time when there's a line 500 long. That's just bad business.

And the Touch will always be the red-headed stepchild of the iPhone, get used to it. There's no month after month residuals without a cellular contract so the Touch is a burden for Apple after the purchase.

Now pay your $10 and shut up, your "father" doesn't love you anyway =)
