iRadio for iPhone

Submitted by Seth Weintraub on Wed, 11/07/2007 - 20:51.

Its always exciting to see what iPhone software awaits us every morning from AppTapp.   In fact, we've gone to checking several times a day.  This morning was no exception.   A title in particular that caught our collective eyes is iRadio from Conceited Software.  While it is, of course in beta and only does MPEG streams at the moment, it worked great.

It is, as you would expect, a streaming radio player.  The low speed streams even work over EDGE which we would have lost money betting against.  There are about 100 different stations to choose from.

It starts superfast, has lots of streams with different types of content and most importantly, doesn't effect the other apps on the iPhone.  IT plays when the iPhone is locked just like iTunes does as well.

If you want to try it out - simply go to AppTapp and look under recents.

EDIT: Upon further review we are getting some crashes and more importantly - it seems to be messing a bit with our synching...but - it is Beta Software...so, as always - use at your own risk...

Way to go Conceited...your software IS better than theirs!

Im pretty excited about this

Im pretty excited about this product - its one I'd definitely be willing to purchase.

It crashes, is pretty unstable for me. Also, I wonder if it will ever be viable for use with EDGE? I have been able to get it to work with EDGE (only 64k streams and less). The reason is that when walking out and about - obviously only EDGE is going to provide data access.

Anyway, kudos to conceited software - I agree with the review that apps such as iradio are of the ilk that make this device (iphone) so much more pleasurable to own and use.

i'd really like to add my own streams, as well as removing the ones i don't want to see from the list.

Crashed...icon disappeared.....now I can't uninstall it.......Nice try.  Why don't you test this crap more throughly before you inflict it on us.  It only has to run on the iPhone.....not all Nokia's. Geeks.

Is there any way to stream

Is there any way to stream Triple J from Oz? I think I read somewhere that their options for streaming aren't compatible with the app or something. But even if that is the case, is there any way to get around that? I'd love to be able to listen to it away from my comp. in some portible fashion.

Thanks for a great app!

Thanks for a great app!  Just what I was looking for.

I had super low volume on most stations that I listened to, but followed the advice listed above and while iRadio was playing, went into ipod, played a song, turned up the volume, stopped my song, and iradio was much louder!

Yep, works just fine.  I thought the app wasn't working at all until i learned about the volume adjustment trick.  I'm able to listen to my own station on my iTouch now ... it's almost like having all of the music i love available to me all the time -- just like i've had anywhere with a net connection since 1999 !
