After reading the article, I'm not positive whether you mean these design changes are for the MacBooks only or both the MacBooks and MacBook Pros. Can it be assumed the September launch window is for both MB and MBP?
This is a fine MacBook notebook rumor but is very boring compared to what was expected from your teaser where you included a youtube video of apple PDA/tablet mockups which have been refered to by speculators as the "MacBook Touch". Your rumor was not about the "MacBook Touch" but rather a small and pretty boring refresh to the conventional macbook.
This rumor is nothing, all been said before, no news on MB & MBP, pointless article really which has all been said in different formats during the last 6 months or so, especially after the build up you gave. C- Try Harder.
This had really better not be it Weintraub! You promised MacTouch info so where is it? Do not mix the people who want the mactouch with the people who just want a macbook upgrade. They are the past.
We are the future!
Maybe we'll see MacBook refreshes, and then see a MacBook Touch at MacWorld '09. This seems likely since the MacBook Air was revealed at MacWorld '08. Who knows. Maybe we'll see a slogan like "A touch of innovation".
Gabba gabba, gabba wobble dooble doo. That is what all this means to me. To add my own goobly gook noises to the shrill deafening sound of nerds speculating, what if we see the MacBook DS, (like nintendo DS) and the big glass trackpad has an embedded screen? This will require some extra development work, but snow leapord will probablty be released simultaneously, so.....
No I don't really believe any of this, but speculating is quite fun... when your at work... bored... very, very bored...
Late September doesn't seem to mesh with Peter's comments that a product transition with effect margin in the july-sept quarter. Thoughts? Anyone have any other ideas on this?
yes we know a September launch would still mean this quarter- however, a late september launch probably would not affect anything for the quarter- any more thoughts?
I agree with you. Launching a product in the last weeks of september wouldn't affect anything AND it would be stupid for Apple to do so since they would miss B2S and the montevina 'race'.
Oppenhiemer clearly said that the product transition would affect margins this quarter. This Quarter ends the the end of September. Assuming that this is the product transition- wouldnt the launch date have to be sooner to actually affect anything?
It may affect results in this quarter, because even if the product launch is in late September, the production costs may already be happening as we speak... This could lead to reduced margins...
Well i was hoping for some proper touch rumours but, hell, i can take a joke.
He isn't saying there is no touch. What I want to ask is when as a big endless rumour been wrong... the TIVO killer wasn't quite what we wanted but in the end we got an AppleTV... the iPhone came... the touch WILL arrive and Apple sure as hell have had one in development.. it looks like we'll get it this year... if not we'll get a better one next year.

Does this apply to both the MB and MBP?

Timing of launch

Re: Timing of launch
July + August + September = 1 Quarter
Therefore, late Sept would be within that quarter.
