Update put the phone into recovery mode then "unknown error (5)"...
Having to redownload the update via the update function as opposed to restore (colleague had donwnloaded firmware earlier and I just used his copy).
Joy - that's what happened to me last time I used the Restore method, thought I'd save myself the 250meg download at home by doing it at work, will let you know if I get the same thing happen
all smooth. improved in mobileme push ability. im satisfied.
also a tip for one who not yet know how to create genius
create a genius playlist on your iTunes 8, then drag it into iphone. it will active genius feature on the iphone. after that you can manually create a genius playlist right on iphone like steve jobs demonstrated on the keynote.
I wouldn't say this is the best update ever, I think the 2.0 was probably the best as it added so much to the phone and made it so much more appealing to people. Although, I guess people could argue that 2.0 caused all the problems that 2.1 had to fix :)
Either way, I would say it's the best update SINCE 2.0
installing applications, backing up, and all the syncing is soooo much faster. kudos on that. that shit killed me
2 hours and still waiting..."Backing up"...so frustrating. Backups need to be intelligent an incremental. I hope this is better after the update. The frustrating thing with the iPhone is that IT'S YOUR PHONE and it out of commission for 2+ hours while updating.
Updated - just worked. No problems. Haven't looked around heavily yet.
hurrah so far!!
It didn't ask me to do a full backup before restore so I lost everything since the last "good back up" it could find back in the end of July. I do full back ups every night...thanks Apple :(
Still backing up...
Update went smooth - synch is good and fast but apps are still crashing.
iPod Touch 16GB
Well, things do seems to happen a lot faster but I don't see any difference concerning my battery. It stills goes down ridiculously quick.
MobileMe sync also appears buggy
i'm not sure why these other people are having issues, might be some are just in a hurry and not letting the update do it's thing before they start pressing buttons. Just give it 5 minutes and you should be ok. Believe me it's been worth the wait for me.
The one cool thing I've noticed is that now when you update your apps, they don't lose their place. Before when you did an app update the app icon got move to the end. Not any more, which I'm glad they found and fixed. Also, the 3G is working better for me. Before today, my signal was off and on and much less reliable. Contacts load immediately and scroll smoother and faster. I'm sure there other things, but this was not just a cosmetic update for me, it really seems to be helping..... as it should.
Very smooth upgrade. Kudos to Apple. I like the new features I've found so far (wipe after 10 failed password attempts, apps don't lose their place).
But I'm wondering if anyone else has had problems with AOL, IM+. and iSSH. Is it just me, or have these apps stopped working after the upgrade?
Looks like I'm set for a restore after work. Can't make calls now! Shows how much I use the pda features is it took me till afternoon before I realized it broke something!
No problems here. Update took a while to download and install but was flawless, syncing is a LOT quicker now.
unkwnon error happenned, my iphone is a brick, ill go and see if the guys at my mibile operator can do something about it, if not i will wnat a replacement, they goint to wanna send it to apple and thats gonna take like a month.
my remote app is not working properly since 2.1. It keeps saying there's an issue with the library and my imac refuses to start playing. Anyone having this issue?
I've been reading he samsung instinct is as being one of the better smart phone in the iPhone class. I tried my friends this afternoon and what a joke. The touch screen is not sensitive, everything is jerky when scrolling, phone pics are poor, the music section does not even compare. Wow, I thought that the two would be close but it's not even a competition when you compare the experience.
went fine...
