iMac, Mac Pro upgrades loom?

With the MacBook range upgrade under our belts the Mac web is beginning to consider Apple's next move, and it looks like iMac customers may choose to defer their next purchase for a few weeks - as some claim an upgrade to the system's due to debut in November.

Veteran Mac industry watcher Dennis Sellers at Macsimum News speculates: "I’m pretty sure that we’ll see an iMac and Mac mini update on Tuesday, Nov. 11."

He also suggests Apple will introduce a powerfully-upgraded Mac Pro and a revamped range of Cinema Displays in January. The latter systems will offer LED screens, built-in speakers and iSight cameras, he surmises - not unreasonably given Apple's recently introduced display for its laptops.

Naturally, his suggestions generated immediate conversation, with one reader suggesting Seller's has the dates right, but the products wrong - new Mac Pro for November? We have seen Apple upgrade its pro machines in November before, admittedly - and Xserve seems to need a little love at this point...

The Mac Pro is long overdue for an update. It’s been 294 days since the last one. The iMac on the other hand, is well under the average time for an update. We'll see how this plays...

Sorry, an update on the 11th

1216

Sorry, an update on the 11th is not going to happen. In the US, November 11th is Veterans' Day.

Bring on the Mac Pro updates!

Bring on the Mac Pro updates! Daddy needs a new desktop!

Larger iMac?

How about an iMac based on the 30" cinema display? Now that would be an iMac! My wife has a 30" display for her Mac Pro for video work and I love to use it for routine stuff.

Tuesday Events

710

Apple loves Tuesday. They would prefer to delay 1 week because of Veterans Day rather than move it up one day. Also, by moving it back 1 week, they assure that they will get maximum coverage from the press. Apple loves press coverage and would not want a small thing like a potentially long weekend to ruin their product release press conference.

That is my 2 cents. I am really hoping for a true upgrade for the Mac Mini.

Mac Pro!!!

1216

I really hope they upgrade the Mac Pro soon because we're in need of new computers at work, and I want a Mac Pro. I'd be pissed if we bought a Mac Pro and then in a few weeks they release a Mac Pro with DDR3 RAM or some other good updates.
On the other hand I'd be upset if they upgraded the iMac. I just bought mine like 4 months ago!
I'd like to see a better Mac Pro, and a better Mac Mini.
Maybe even an introduction to a new model, maybe just called a Mac. Not mini, not Pro, but a mid level tower with similar specs to the iMac, but with better options to expand similar to the Mac Pro.
Eh?

If the Mac Mini was identical

If the Mac Mini was identical to the iMac sans LED/LCD, I would buy two.

All I want is a reasonable

1012

All I want is a reasonable update to the Mini and I'll get one, but no way will I pay for the current offering. I own a MacBook Pro an iMac an AppleTV and this would round out my list.

November 18th?

1118

How about November 18th? It's the day after Intel's Nehalem (err...Core i7) processors are slated to launch. Seems like a good time to update the iMac and the Mini. If Apple decides to keep the Mac Pro using server parts, I'd imagine we won't see an update until early next year.

I could see them offering a

I could see them offering a 999$ 20" 1GB Ram with Only integrated graphics imacs, then the usual middle and higher end supporting NVIDIA's Hybrid SLI. Well at least thats what im hoping for.

MAC PRO! MAC PRO! MAC PRO!

Glossy or matte?

1112

Will new iMac still have glossy screen? I really hope Apple will come back soon to matte screen!!! Glossy are absolutely unusable in photography and graphics.

Nov 18th is the earliest

715

Nov 18th is the earliest credible date.

The first week of Nov is election week in the US so the media will be focused on politics.

The second week of Nov contains a federal holiday on Tuesday. Reduced media coverage and low viewership.

So my money is on the 18th for a new Mac mini.
