What will be the biggest announcement at Macworld 2009?

Macworld hardly ever mixes with iTunes/iPod/iPhone events.

The largest chunk of the Stevenote will be a demo of Snow Leopard with a rollout date (Summer??).

All hardware between now and the ship date will probably see a bump of some sort to "showcase" the new OS.

Shorter: it's all about the Gato.

Except it won't be a Stevenote. Maybe a Schillernote?

I voted ARM tablet because that's what I want.

that Steve won't be there.

new iMacs with LED backlighting and 2.1 speaker system a la "Cinema Display"

Mix Apple TV and Mac Mini

Optimized for TV support with a new remote and Blu-Ray support

Tablet. It's not going to happen, but I say tablet.

What ever it is, it usually wows us!

I'll go way out on a limb here and say some sort of universal remote. Maybe a pairing between iPhone/Touch app and Apple TV, but some kind of integrated Web and TV experience. At least, that's what it would be if I was running Apple.

I´ll stick to whatever 9to5mac comes up with. Anyways I think a mix between apple tv and the mac mini is highly plausible. Sorry for this crappy English of mine.

Yeah, I'm not counting on it, but I'd love a combo Mac Mini AppleTV with DVR support. Their patent applications for live TV recording were amazing and if anyone can finally get the 10 foot computing thing down, it would be Apple. Integrate remote scheduling and viewing via an update to the Remote app for the iPhone, and you just killed Tivo.

If it's a >= 17" MacBook Pro unibody &/or new >= 30" Cinema Display... beyond awesome; all others listed a yawn.

I think DRM free iTunes. Apple has control of the digital media department. And Although the record companies are trying very hard to change that, they can not argue with one of their biggest sources of income to much. Going DRM will give Apple even more power, but it will also give record companies more money, which in the end, is what their stockholders really care about.

Anyone seen our economy lately? There is another reason. Any way to make more money in our current economic state will most likely be exploited.

Just my 2 Cents.

being able to watch what is on your iTunes on you desktop or laptop on you iPhone through wifi, and not having to sync if you want to watch something on you iPhone.

I hope it will be new freshly designed iMacs with huge spec bumps and enourmous price cuts. What? I can dream, can´t I?

17'' macbook pro quad core as an upgrade option like dell and others makers already offer.

i think there won't be anything major this time
maybe some speed bumps for macs
i believe 32gb iphone that has been rumoured for a while might be real

I vote for an midrange or imac without a display but with PCIexpress slots.
Uh, am i heard? I need an mac (without)pro...

am i dreaming?!

This is the strangest Macworld. First off Jobs has not even been announced yet. Second, their are no rumors hitting the web of anything except new mac minis. Boring

of the bailout of the automakers by Apple.

I'm guessing they are downplaying any Jobs appearance in an attempt to squash any of the rumors that have been stealing their announcement thunder as of late.

January:
- 40"+ Cinema Display
- MacPro casing/specs
- new form factor/specs for MacMini (homeserver)
- iLife upgrade
- new mouse

February:
- MacBook Pro 18" (with eSata)

March:
- two new iPhones (announcement)
- 3G memory upgrade (available)
- DRM free iTunes

June:
- Snow Leopard
- iWork '10

New mouse, eh? I wonder if they will get it right this time.

I could definitely vie for a larger Macbook Pro and a Mac Mini like you just mentioned. I also think that the Mac Pros desperately need to be renewed with better specs (ones that will enable good games to be played on it!) and a lower price. $2500 for a tower is just way too much!

If the Mac Mini was a home server, that could really open up some doors for people on tight budgets. Depending on what sort of wi-fi is implemented, it could be the only computer in the house!

all Apple products will ship with penises, so they can screw you directly.

I'd like to see an updated Mini, they've got the form right but they need to bring the internals up to todays standards.

That he's turning over some or all of the DTD ops of Apple to one of his trusted henchman, to focus on the 'insanely great' part of Apple.

Praying there's a blu-ray miracle in the Macbooks. Just couldn't get the "bag of hurt" eliminated in time. There's got to be a reason for the easily interchangeable optical bay in the new ones.

Ditto. Blu-Ray should be a technology that's integrated into Mac OS 10 already! They could also put Blu-Ray compatible movies on iTunes if they wanted! "Bag of Hurt" my a$$!

I really hope that the iMac and Mac Pros get updates here. The iMac is need for an overhaul, and the Mac Pros need a price cut. This brings up another question: If Apple wants to help out the economy, why doesn't it actually slash its prices instead of trimming them?
