How many of those who voted for the Matte have used the glass screen yet and/or are having problems with the screen's reflectiveness that couldn't be fixed by turning the computer 30-90%?
How how many are people who hate matte because their freind's friend is a graphics "pro" and said they suck? That should be the real poll.
Have to agree with mark on this one. There are 233 yes votes and only 5 comments at time of posting this. If you voted yes actually back up your reason why because im pretty sure we dont have 233 "pro" users that actually care that much.
Mind you i dont know too many "pro" users that use a 13" either. mainly students.
I have a Pro and I like the matte screen more than gloss. It's my money, it's my choice, and that's how I voted. Stick with your glossy screen if thats what you like. I can sleep at night not knowing why you like gloss.

OK. I had earlier macbooks with matte screens and liked them. When i needed a new computer I got the black MB which came only with a gloss screen. I was periodically disturbed by the reflections. I had decided not to buy another until apple resumed offering matte screens. But the need for a new computer arose, and the 13" MBP offered enough advances that i bought one. The glossy screen is the single thing I'd have changed if the BTO option had been available. Like other posters here, I have a preference and I think the company would better serve my needs by offering me that choice.
I personally couldn't care less whether or not Apple offers a matte option. I am doing just fine with the glossy, but I think people who want the matte option should be able to have it.
I have to say that I hate the glossy screen as it makes it impossible to use it when on long car trips, and it also makes it horrible when you are on an airplane and lights are on in the wrong spots. I'd much rather have there be the glossy option, the matte option, and the anti glare option. that would make everyone happy
I have tried both the 13 and the 15 inch glossy Unibody MacBook Pro for several weeks. Then I decided to sell them (returned the 13 inch). It couldn't stand the glossy.
Please stop those "people never really tried" statements! Apple is offering the glass&glossy displays for nine months in notebooks and even longer in iMacs. People know what they are talking about and they are still complaining and won't stop until Apple offers matte screens.
And don't tell us it's just about professional photographers. It's about everyone who wants to work outside. Everyone you cannot sit in a dark room. Yeah find a new job just to get along with glossy.
BTW: The matte Unibody 17 inch MacBook Pro is brighter than the glossy.
I'm lucky enough to have many windows in my flat.My desk is just in front of a huge one.
My iPhone screen is just a mirror there but my good old 2006 MBP matte is just fine.
Color accuracy is paramount to graphist and video pro. Apple has always known this was the very core of its user base even during the dark days.
it would be wise to listen to their needs.
Apple is welcome to offer this option when you order. (because each has a different usage)
In fact, MBP LCD screen is already matte ...
It's just the glass reflective surface who need to be changed by a "no reflective" version. (or removed).
This must be free !
Matte should be standard on 15'' and 17'' MacBook (Pro), as well as with the high-end iMacs(although this could be more difficult), but with the glossy option.
The petition at http://macmatte.wordpress.com already has about 370+ comments. The petition allows you to state your personal case for matte screens. I believe if the petition can exceed 1,000 comments, then it could make an impact with Apple. The MacRumors article suggests that Apple is monitoring the progress of petitions like these, so please post a comment at http://macmatte.wordpress.com if you haven't already.
I say Yes for matte. Because sometimes, I would like to go outside dark room without thinking how I should sit to see anything, but myself, on the screen.

I would pay extra for a matte if they offered the choice.
I will be holding onto my early 2008 model Pro until it actually turns to dust. I can have my display on absolute minimum brightness nearly all of the time and not have a single bit of trouble seeing it.
My friend with a GlassBook can barely see his even on 100%.
The only thing I can't stand is the ugly black outline on the 17" matte. Should be gray like on the Air to blend in with the aluminium.
It would be interesting to see the new 15" (backlit version) with a matte screen to see if the extra light cuts through it more. I've had the prev version and the new one outside and to be honest the matte one is virtually unusable because of overall glare, at least with the new glossy ones you just get reflections, which can then usually be avoided.
A long time ago, non-reflective CRT flat-screens were in use by Apple. Sony Trinitron flat screens had them. But it was the glass not the actual screens themselves that had a coating. Because of that there was no double-reflections. The last CRT screens were the eMac. Strange how short peoples memories are nowadays. I'm looking at my Cube that came with a 17" CRT non-reflective glass screen. It's not as bright as my iMac but I can hardly see myself in it when it's off.
I'll be honest, matte is rubbish compared to non-reflective glass. My specks have a non-reflective coating on them and if you carefully look at the very top of your screens, you'll notice a very small lens there: that's a camera. Why does it have a blue or green or pink appearance to it? That is due to the non-reflective coating that was applied to it.
You can rave on all you want about matte screens but if you don't ask the right question you won't get the right answer. For a better understanding: http://www.screentekinc.com/pixelbright-lcds.shtml

why is it that apple feedback has an option for commenting on iCal, but NOT for commenting on Mail app? Am I overlooking something?
