I will get one when I can get

2223

I will get one when I can get one whit out contract whit Telia (I'm from Denmark)

when I can get one on Sprint

2719

when I can get one on Sprint instead of crappy AT&T. Apple really shot themselves in the foot with this exclusive AT&T deal. If they wanted exclusivity they could have at least picked a decent carrier.

Ha-ha, Sprint as a decent

2924

Ha-ha, Sprint as a decent carrier? They are on the edge of being bankrupt, They also use an inferior CDMA technology which is being killed by GSM/UMTS.

Who cares about GSM. Sprint

2226

Who cares about GSM. Sprint is getting ready to move to WiMax. Couple that with an Android-based phone next year will mean Sprint is back in the game.

Yeah... next year... a lot

3223

Yeah... next year... a lot can happen in the market place between now and "next year"... remember all those US frequency auctions? I'm sure Apple's got much more up it's sleeve on the iPhone, too... there was no processor upgrade on this round and no real memory upgrade either... big things could happen with either of those.

Not to mention all the apps that are going to be released...

"Next Year" is rough in these seas...

When its got copy, paste.

3017

When its got copy, paste. When I see what's on the the app store and when one of our (Aussie) telicos comes up with a decent data plan.

Lame

2826

I think that people saying that they wont get the iPhone because there's no copy paste is the worst possible reason ever not to get the phone. That should not be a turnoff.

Pros:
- Revolutionary Multitouch UI
- Full iPod
- 3.5 Inch Screen
- Best Mobile Internet Ever
- 3G
- GPS
- Rich HTML Email
- App Store

Cons:
- Copy and Paste

Oh yah, the Cons definitely outweigh the pros.

Agreed but...

2325

Although I agree...what IS up with no copy/paste?

Next Year

2528

I'm going to wait until next year to plunge into the iPhone in Canada, gives me a chance to see how Rogers will handle customers. I'm happy with my iPod Touch for the time being.

I am totally with you on

2419

I am totally with you on this. My bro-in-law will be the Rogers guinea pig. I'm happy with my Touch and an old flip-phone.

My last cell contract expired in April, I've been going month-to-month pending the iPhone release. But since I've decided to wait, I'm going to avoid other contracts for awhile, I'm switching to Pay-as-you-go till I'm iPhone ready.

Whenever this area gets 3G...

1918

...and AT&T's plan, which would be around $90 for me is worth it. I'd have the lowest plan ($40) + iPhone data plan ($30) plus 1500 texts ($15, since if people need more than 200, surely they need 1500) + taxes and fees. Come to think of it, that's almost double what I'm paying now.

I would highly consider this if I had 3G in my area. But the world is being covered in more Wifi, my current phone texts really well and an iPod touch (when they get updated with lower prices / higher storage) would be a better fit for me.

I'm waiting for a 32 GB

2124

I'm waiting for a 32 GB iPhone 3G. Then I'll be fine with buying one.

In line soon,

2523

I'm going to stand in line now. The vodafone store in Wellington NZ starts selling them in 9 hours.

I'll get one when it will be

2524

I'll get one when it will be possible to have one without making line like stupid for hours (days) in front of a shop...
so maybetomorrow afternoon, maybe saturday.. or maybe in 1 month... (i'm in japan)

No strings attached please

3117

I'll get an iPhone when the price is under 500€ and I'll get to choose my carrier freely.

I'll be in line at 6am Friday

3021

I was planning to be in line at 4am but then I found out that the mall that my local Apple Store is in won't even open their doors until 6am. So, I'll be in line at 6am sharp on Friday morning to get my iPhone 3G goodness.

iTunes 7.7 released....

2820

iTunes 7.7 released....

Cheers

when robbers decides to

2319

when robbers decides to actually get prices ppl can afford and unlimited data what a joke

With their "special" promo

2420

With their "special" promo announced yesterday, my brother in law will be rockin an iPhone for $75/mo compared to his blackBerry $90. 6 gig cap, but that's pretty high.

When O2 see fit to put it on

2422

When O2 see fit to put it on PAYG

I'll wait untill AT&T comes

3222

I'll wait untill AT&T comes up with a pay as you go plan. I don't need 450 minutes talking per month - I barely use my 500 minutes for 99$ per year what I currently have on my Tracfone.
i would need an unlimited data plan and I'm willing to pay 50$ for that per month and talk time & SMS some much smaller amount than the current plan allow- as I don't need them.

I'm waiting for two

2816

I'm waiting for two things:
a) a 32GB model
b) a means to procure a phone without a contract, such that I can use my old iPhone SIM card in it.

Let's face it: $30 for pseudo "unlimited" data, without tethering, and with AT&T having the option to consider "unreasonable use" as a violation of the contract, is not worth it.

I study my bills. In a good month I may use as much as 30MB of data on the iPhone. An expensive pre-pay SIM in Germany I pay €0.24/MB, which is about $0.33/MB or $1 per 3MB meaning based on pre-pay rates I use about $10 worth of data. So $20 is paying double, $30 is paying tripple, while a contract should LOWER the costs, not RAISE them.

In other words, unless you're spending all your waking ours playing with the phone, and you don't have regular access to WiFi, then you're likely already overpaying with the existing G2 iPhone data plan.

Given that AT&T saves about $10-20/month in what they no longer pay to Apple as a subsidy, they can use these $10-20/month to subsidize the phone. There is thus absolutely NO need for them to raise the cost of the plan by $15/month (if you include the 200 SMS).

Further, if you have spare cash, you can afford the full price of the phone. If you don't have spare cash, you should also be concerned about what sort of 2-year monthly commitment you get into. It's better to have a handle on recurring costs if funds get unexpectedly tight than saving some money while you have spare cash.

Thus, I rather pay a $1000 for the phone and stick with my old plan than getting sucked into a "cheap" phone, and then be on the hook for eternity with a plan that costs $15/month more.

What I pay now is already too much, more is an open insult to anyone's intelligence.

say it like it is

2727

Preach on brother, can I get an AMEN!!!!

with that being said, the day my contract is over (sprint)... i'm going over to ATT and getting one.

I'll wait for it coming to my doorstep....

2623

I live in Switzerland. I ordered my iPhone yesterday (Juli 9th) at 0730 am. Orange Switzerland, my carrier, will deliever the iPhone at my doorstep July 11th (tomorrow) with no hassle. Apple is not that big here (yet) so it wouldn't be any fun to wait in line (and also the number of iPhones received is far inferior compared to reservations made) particularly at the carrier's shops alone...

Just for info. Orange Switzerland received 7,000 iPhones and they have reservations for 30,000 :-) A bunch of disappointed clients is calling a friend of mine (who is sales rep at Orange) asking why they cannot get them. The same applies for some shops (not Orange branded, third party ones) who didn't receive any...

Marketing at Orange overpromised, not stating anywhere that they only have limited supply. My friend is now the one who has to do all the explaining.. Poor him.

One positive thing. Orange gave priority to current customers for this first wave of iPhones, providing limited supply for shops (where the switchers normally go).

Anyway... I'll wait until tomorrow. In the meantime install MobileMe (as soon as available) and, also, upgrade my 1st gen iPhone to 2.0 sw so I can sell it and come out with zero loss and the new iPhone.

As soon as the SIM-Lock can be removed...

2723

... i will make a short trip to switzerland (i´m from germany)
and pick up one of these contract-free bundles over there.

The 16GB iPhone in switzerland costs only about € 15.00 (fifteen) more than a 16GB iPod touch is priced in germany.
€ 384,00 -> € 369,00

Be careful about it! They might be SIM locked

2723

Just to tell you that rumor has it that even the iPhones without subscription are SIM locked.

You might check out further info (in German, so it might help) here: www.macprime.ch

that´s exactly what i wrote:

The subject of my first comment was:
"As soon as the SIM-Lock can be removed..."

So, i know that they are SIM-Locked for sure, I´m just waiting for a SIM-Lock removal tool (like ziphone), to remove that SIM-Lock and enjoy the phone was my own card...

I'll wait a bit.

2318

I'll probably pick one up the following week. Maybe a little sooner, but probably not this Friday.

I will replace my original

2624

I will replace my original iPhone with a 16GB 3G model as soon as they are are confirmed unlockable for use with international SIM cards.

As soon as it's available

2426

As soon as it's available from O2 on PAYG!
