New Quicktime interface is not groundbreaking

Share

Faber.se has posted the next Quicktime interface.   It was found in the latest Snow Leoprd build 10A286..Yes, it looks like DVD player.app and doesn't have those ugly silver borders.  But is it snappie...?

GROSS!!!
they should use the dvd player interface.

Snappy rather than snappie

No, as in "But is it snappie...r?"
It's an ellipsis. Trailing off.

You don't use an ellipses for incomplete words. Either use Snappy or Snappier.

Unless you belong to 9to5Mac, in which case you either use snappie, snappier or snappieness™.

are those glass window border

vista/iphone like

No it is the code name "Marble" look found in iMovie '09 and other stuff, whether it is taken from Vista I couldn't tell you.

my main question is whether these glass borders would be consistent throughout the OS

it is very similar to the photo app or the video player in itunes, or vista window frames

Nice, but EW to that title bar.

The last line in the article on MacFeber.se that says "we will be right back when we got the screenshot" was writen BEFORE they got the pic. So yes that is a real screenshot from the last build.

Looks brilliant and simplistic. I hated the massive boxy mess around the bottom of the old one. Although nothing drastic - still looks better and needed to be done.

For Pro users the seekbar totally sucks. I hope there will be some ways how to switch back to normal.

Why?

i take it pro is a typo for porn in your case

I agree - the seek bar that stretches with the screen is much more precise as it gets bigger, and where are the trim handles etc???

But why did they add that stupid Apple logo (in the lower right corner)?!!
Come on, we are not in 1997 with Quicktime 4 anymore!!

the Apple is not part of the player, they took a screen capture of their entire desktop, the Apple is part of the video playing on the desktop, no it won't be on the new quicktime, at least I highly doubt it.

Apple have their logo inprint into some of their trailers - it's not a part of the player, so we are not going back to 1997.

Evidence: ;)

Or am I imagining this?

I'm most curious as to whether they've replaced that god-awful pixelated welcome screen mess - the one with ads for itunes videos etc. It looks so outdated compared to anything else on the mac!

Perhaps a screenshot of this if anyones got one? Or are they removing it completely - I wouldn't be surprised!

I really do like the new Quicktime interface except for the title bar as it doesn't look consistent with the overall main theme (at least from screen shots of OSX Snow Leopard & the Safari4 beta) and more like a windows app. I would suggest to Apple that they at least change the title bar to be consistent with the rest of the applications with an option to be able to just change the title bar's color, so if they prefer black they can have it while still keeping the title bar's look consistent among the rest of OSX Snow Leopard. Other than that, it looks awesome, look forward to using it.

I like the new quicktime interface.
Wow, waiting for the new macbook pro with snow leopard. :D
