According to carrier sources, this week at least two out of "big three" mobile carriers -- Vympelkom (service mark Beeline) and Megaphone can sign agreements with Apple to sell iPhone in Russia.
But according to one employee of company that is a partner of carriers, Apple demands that new iPhone partner should order a big lot of phones at once -- 1.5 mlns. Other sources confirmed that the terms mention 1 - 1.5 million iPhones. Therefore if all three major carriers sign agreements, it will lead to importing of 3-4.5 mln iPhones into Russia. Analysts from MForum Analitics Dmitry Deev believes that it's not really possible to sell such amount of iPhones. This would make up 12% of volume of RUssian mobile phone market and would comprise up to a third of the market in monetary measures. According to his estimates, maximum slice of market for such phone would be 1.5-2% by volume, therefore realistic estimate of annual sales would be 500 000 - 600 000 phones. 3-4 millions of iPhones could be sold only if price for customers will be less than $250.
