Report claims that both 4.7 and 5.5 inch iPhone 6 will launch on September 19th

iGen.fr, who has proved reliable in the past with Apple launch dates, is now claiming that sources informed the site that the new iPhones will launch on the 19th. This is generally to be expected, following historical patterns. Apple traditionally puts new iPhones on sale the Friday the week after the announcement. This year, everyone seems convinced that the 4.7 inch iPhone 6 will be on sale then.

The release schedule of the 5.5 inch model is less clear. Some, citing supply constraints, have said that the 5.5 inch model (most recently dubbed the iPhone 6 Plus) will not launch for a couple more months. However, a consensus on this has not really been reached. iGen.fr says that the larger device will in fact launch on September 19th as well and is certainly still a possibility.

It is fair to say that more components have leaked for the 4.7 inch model, leading some reasonable speculation that the 5.5 inch yields are simply not high enough for it to be released at the same time. iGen.fr notes that supply of the 5.5 inch model will probably be constricted, with the 4.7 inch model having much better availability.

Despite iGen.fr’s comments, it is important to note that many sources believe that the 5.5 inch launch will be delayed. KGI’s Ming-Chi Kuo most recently said that it does not expect the larger phone to be released until October. Bloomberg has also echoed this sentiment. We’ll know for sure tomorrow.

    Idk if i’m wrong
The Title says “both on 19th september”
If i read full post it means that first 4.4 model will be released on 9th, then 5.5 inch model on 19th. Is it right ? :(

Lol. That’s great writing right there. 9to5 don’t turn into BGR.

I m looking forward more for iWatch …. I dint like the curved iPhone model.. Its like Galaxy series phones.

      • o0smoothies0o - 10 years ago

Except not at all. You may want to refer more to the first iPhone. This iPhone has a seamless curving on all edges, glass curving into the aluminum curve. No phone has done this at all.

      • PMZanetti - 10 years ago

The “curved” model. Yea, we can tell you’ve paid a lot of close attention to this.

As I understand it. The new iPhone 6’s will be announced on the ninth but will not be available (launched) until the 19th.
      – The day of the Apple event is not the same day as when you can go into a store and actually buy the new phone.

This was always a given. Because of contracts, upgrades, and the way iPhone purchasing works, there was never even the most remote possibility that Apple would stagger the release of two new flagship iPhone models.

Anyone with the slightest comprehension of the way these things work has known this all along. Regardless of phantom production delays, the 5.5 either launches alongside the iPhone 4.7….or it doesn’t launch at all.

    • Man, you must work for Apple or something lol

      • PMZanetti - 10 years ago

No its just not hard to see these things. You can ignore pretty much every rumor, and just logically deduce what will be done based on what this company has done in the past. It involves knowing a lot about said company, but otherwise is not difficult to figure out.

There is just no way on earth Apple would ever do any of the following:

        1. Show off 2 iPhones models and say, “You can only buy one of them though.”
        2. Show off 1 iPhone model, remaining mum about the other, and than randomly releasing the other one at later date, once everyone has already blown their upgrade on the other one.

      • Yeah, and a year ago, it would have been just as easy to say that Apple would “never” allow third-party keyboards in iOS based on what this company has done in the past. I’m not saying you’re wrong about the naming scheme, but it’s pretty clear that the past is no longer a reliable indicator of Apple’s future actions.

      • Rather, I’m not saying you’re wrong about the release schedule*. Was just reading another post and got mixed up.

      • PMZanetti - 10 years ago

That’s a gross oversimplification of completely different things. Little software feature decisions are not the same as major business model givens. I really dislike the conversational tactic of “Well, anything’s possible” as your way of saying, “I have no answer to that at all, but rather than be wrong, I say ‘anything is possible'”

      • But you’ve now grossly oversimplified the argument that I’ve made. I tend to agree with you on the point that staggering the releases wouldn’t be a wise business decision. However what you’ve done here is choose to zoom in on my example, rather than to see it as I intended; evidence of wholesale change in Apple’s business practices.

      • Furthermore, before the simultaneous release of iPhone 5C and 5S, blog readers would have scoffed at the idea of Apple taking more than one new model to market. The simplicity of Apple’s product lime was even a talking point amongst anti-Android people. Things change though.

      • Charlie - 10 years ago

And that’s a bad thing how?

    • ron837192 - 10 years ago

I agree … the question will be when will they actually ship. Even if Apple has almost zero inventory of the 5.5 model, I would also guess that it will be released at the same time. However, like what happened to the latest Mac Pro, the ship dates might go from 3-4 days to 2 weeks to “sometime in December” very quickly.

Thats kinda not true. When Apple introduced the new ‘thin’ iMac they put the 21 on sale and said the 27 would launch later

I work for a major cell company in the US and we were told back at the end of July/early August that we have all hands on deck on Sept. 19, 20, and 21. And that any vacations will be cancelled. So my vaca got cancelled and we have hands on deck that weekend.

    Tomorrow we will see:
    -new ipad
-2 new iphones (240 fps slowmo mode!)
-new watch, 2 sizes, color options

    • herb02135go - 10 years ago

Yes, and you can buy them next year.
Meanwhile you can get many of the same features now if you can live without the Apple logo.

      • vandiced - 10 years ago

Or Apple’s operating systems. It’s not just the hardware people like.

      • Whiskerton P. Sniffs - 10 years ago

No. It must be on everything.

  5. jakejthrillbennett - 10 years ago

still can’t get over how stupid it is they put the lock button on the side. blatant rip-off from android/google phones

    • vandiced - 10 years ago

Kind of like how almost all modern smartphones have a rectangular touch screen interface as input device – after iPhone showed them how to do it right?

  6. Mike Cohen (@mike3k) - 10 years ago

I’m getting the 4.7. The 5.5 is much too big. Even the 4.7 is bigger than I would like, since it will no longer fit comfortably in my pocket like the iPhone 5 does.

  7. William Robinson - 10 years ago

Given the number of iPhone owners whose contracts reliably expire the week Apple announces new products, it would make sense for the 5.5 iPhone to at least be order-able on the same day as the 4.7 inch model. It may not ship till a later date, but to get the subsidy price (which is still available I assume, despite ATT’s Next program, which seems to end up costing unlocked price) ordering on or near the 19th seems likely.

I wonder how buggy it will be.
