iOS 8.0.1 will reportedly bring fixes for phone & keyboard bugs, Safari video, & more

Apple’s next iOS 8 update following the public release of the operating system earlier this month will reportedly bring various fixes for phone and keyboard related bugs, problems with video in Safari and more. MacRumors claims to have details on the upcoming iOS 8.0.1 release from a source. In addition to fixing bugs with the phone, keyboard, and Safari, the fix will reportedly also include a fix for AirDrop support with Passbook and a problem with installing VPN profiles.

Here’s the full list of changes according to the report:

– Phone: Addresses bugs with call forwarding and freezing when accessing visual voicemail
– Keyboard: Fixes an issue with keypad not appearing to enter iCloud Keychain verification codes
– Safari: Fixes a problem with videos occasionally not playing
– Sharing: Fixes AirDrop support for Passbook passes
– VPN: Addresses an issue with installing VPN profiles

Apple released iOS 8 to the public earlier this month on September 17th two days ahead of its new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus models going on sale in initial launch countries. Adoption of the new operating system is lagging behind last year’s iOS 7 release, while Apple for the first time used its own CDN to deliver the update this year. A release date for the next iOS 8 update has not yet been confirmed, but Apple has said they are working on a fix for the HealthKit bug that delayed the feature expected later this month.

Hopefully they get an update out soon… iOS 8is super buggy. On my iPhone 6 and 5 and my sister’s 5s. It feels like it’s running android the way it constantly crashes/doesn’t do what it’s supposed to. Should I pull the “this never would’ve happened if Steve was still alive” card???

    Let’s hope this comes quick.

        Fix – iPhone 6 Plus . . . .

Hey – It had to be said.

The one that makes the battery last longer? Mine has consistently lasted longer ever since iOS 8 Beta 1 and from what I’ve read, most people are happier with their battery life.

At first, my battery was worse, but then it became really good.
It helped a lot to kick Facebook off, which had become extremely slow anyway.

They need to fix the problem with Bluetooth pairing. I can’t get it to talk to my Audi. :-(

OH GOD YES, I really really hope they fix that. I can connect to my BMW, but no calls can be made. As soon as Siri initiates the call, the radio starts playing again and I have to pick up the phone and switch to iPhone to talk. For one, it’s hugely annoying since this was a great feature I got used to (how the hell do they break something they didn’t need to even touch?!) and secondly, it’s actually illegal to talk on one’s cellphone using your hands in the car in my state, must be hands free. Even though this is hard to get caught for, technically, it is a legal matter and Apple better fix it ASAP along with the plethora of other bugs. I love the iPhone 6 and Apple in general, but I’m very disappointed that Apple released iOS 8 in the condition it’s in.

I have no problems with BT pairing or phone calls over BT in my Touareg 2010 and iP5s with iOS8

Hopefully this will actually solve the Conditional Call Forwarding problems to services like YouMail

I’ve noticed screen flickering when talking to Siri and the screen moves on me when I’m typing on Pages. Bugs need to be worked out still.

iPhone 5s last year experienced similar bending problems.

The keyboard not showing up when I put the cursor in a text box is killing me. The fifth beta didn’t have this bug. Ugh

It didn’t fix any issues with the keyboard, it caused new ones. I can’t see half the messages I am writing because the keyboard blocks visibility and is frozen so I can’t move the box I am writing in.
