One day before Apple’s big iPad event tomorrow, Google has just unveiled its latest Nexus devices alongside official announcements for Android 5.0 Lollipop and more. With Apple expected to launch new iPad Air and possibly iPad mini models tomorrow, Google today announced the Nexus 9, an 8.9-inch HTC-made tablet with brushed metal bezels and a gold (Best!, duh) color option not unlike that expected for the new iPad Air tomorrow. The tablet also features a keyboard folio that attaches magnetically to the device. But iPad’s not the only Apple device the Mountain View company is targeting…
In addition, Google announced the much rumored Motorola-made Nexus 6 smartphone with a 5.96-inch display and $649 price tag. Both the Nexus 6 and Nexus 6 will ship November 3 with preorders kicking off on Friday, October 17.
One surprise from Google today is a new Nexus Player, the company’s first Android TV/gaming product made by ASUS.

If Google can create Samantha by next Fall, and, Android Wear becomes as good as Apple Watch, I believe Apple is DOOMED. DOOOOMED!!!
Android Wear is leaps and bounds ahead of Apple Watch in my opinion. I have a Moto 360 and it’s incredible.
the Google Now contextual awareness, to me, is the killer feature that the Apple Watch wont be able to match.
The Nexus Player looks unimpressive. It has 8gb of storage and they didn’t list the GPU, so it’s probably good for Angry Birds and little more. Plus it doesn’t have an app store, nor even an ethernet port. It’s another Fire TV at best, which is to say, another flop.
Apple could blow all of these devices away by delivering an Apple TV update with lots of storage, a real GPU and GPU, and a proper, open, developer friendly app store.

Big Deal – Google will always be riding Apple’s coat tails!
Apple has all those custom A-series processors for use and they can’t be bothered to build a powerful AppleTV that blows all those other attached TV devices away. Too bad. Truthfully, the only reason I used a Roku is because it runs a Plex client although I do use it for Amazon and Youtube occasionally. Besides I now use an i7 Mac Mini for my media center which blows all of those $99 boxes away. I’d just like to see Apple take command of the living-room media center market because they should be easily be able to with the iOS ecosystem they already have set in place.

IMO, Nexus Player will be a good Android TV. What bothers is that it can not stream my purchased iTunes movies and TV shows.
