Apple seeds first beta of OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 with build number 14C68k

Apple has pushed the first beta build of OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 out to AppleSeed users and developers. The update has a build number of 14C68k and weighs in at 422 MB. Last week the company released version 10.10.1 to the general public.

Apple hasn’t provided any indications of what’s new in this beta and has not listed any particular focus areas, though it’s possible this could be a hotfix update to address any lingering Wi-Fi glitches that didn’t get fixed in the most recent patch.

The beta includes an updated version of the Safari browser, which is now up to version 8.0.2.

Mail has also been updated, likely to improve reliability (again).

Users in the AppleSeed or developer programs should be able to download the beta from Software Update in the App Store now. It should be available on the Developer Center shortly.

Just updated on my late 2012 MacBook Pro Retina. Chrome will no longer stay open. It keeps being force closed.

Can’t launch Google Chrome Browser after updating. Anyone else having this issue?

OS X 10.10.2 addresses a bug where Google Chrome can be launched. ;)

The problem is with using a track pad, either macbook or the magic trackpad… Chrome uses an old, and apparently removed in 10.10.2, touch api from Apple.

Same issue here. Such a bummer. I hope Goigle gets to this quickly. Safari doesn’t load all my sites correctly. (And that’s not even counting the porn.)

      • really? i find safari loads my porn the same but uses significantly less battery while doing it which has it’s advantages. ;)

Please do *not* install this build if you are using an iMac Retina 5K at optimal/default resolution. It has reliably bricked my system twice (and I even restored to confirm).

Did anybody notice the font is different now on Retina iMac? Safari and Terminal shows a bolder font, rather than the previous thin one.

    • you are the first post I have seen that indicates the new Rimac has not been bricked by this .2 update. Is everything still ok?

      • mikhailt - 9 years ago

Sorry for the delay in responding here. No, it bricked me too the moment I rebooted.

I simply haven’t put the iMac to sleep or reboot after the update for several hours.

Sadly, the third beta still did not fix this.

    safari updated at 8.0.2

Anyone knows if the issues with slow/laggy PDF scrolling are being addressed?

  9. patthecarnut - 9 years ago

I hope they are addressing the memory hogging issue. I refuse to use Safari until they do.

I noticed a weird memory management of the RAM. Sometimes i am at 10 GB of ram used without apparently reason, sometimes 6 but… in a system with 16 gb of ram the system continue to use swap memory and compressed memory too. It’s weird to use this system with 10 gb of ram available…

plus… apple.geod.com process and safari notification agent still going to crash, web notifications don’t work. Apple… what are u doing???

Anyone else seeing issues with Java on the latest build?

  11. nikitasadykov - 9 years ago

Have some issues with flash after updating. YouTube doesn’t show me videos anymore.

Some apps like Chrome have HUGE fonts :( basicly unusable :(

    My 10.10.2 wish list:

    Wifi
    Time machine
    Memory management
    Safari
    Mail
Audio on iPhone calls over LED Cinema Display
Drag & drop scrolling sidebar (down only)

I really wonder why I even took part in the public beta program, since this IS still beta state! I keep reporting bugs to apple (besides complaining and whining in public : ), but I think they just don’t seem to be able to catch up …

Personally, I would prefer to wait for a solid OS even if it takes longer than getting crap every 12 months!

It has been updated to build 14C68m now. It may be difficult to get the mac app store to recognise this if you have build 14C68k installed since the build numbers are so close. In that case, if you want to update from 14C68k to 14C68m, use the direct links in apple’s developer forums.

Also installing cuda in 10.10.2 breaks skype. My Macbook is unusable with a dozen of problems. Makes me really miss the Jobs days where even beta builds where awesome. Gay politics suck and start to have the same experience as in Windows… I am ‘ ‘ that close to install them again :/

    • kjl3000 - 9 years ago

Could you define “Gay politics” and how they relate to OS X development?

  16. Apple Thunderbolt display now remaining black after MacBook Pro (2013) Retina 15 goes to sleep or is disconnected and reconnected following transport. The MBPR also is not responsive following detaching and opening up Retina Display. Anyone else suffering from the Thunderbolt Display issues even after the Firmware Update v1.2? Only a hard reset of the MBPR brings it back to life.

This is just f****** awesome, Chrome wont work at all anymore (crashes with every start) :(

  18. ishyherts - 9 years ago

Worst update ever, I’m not a developer but I do not know how I got this update completed- assumed it was a normal update and went ahead. Preview has a transparent frame, hardly visible (using Safari for PDFs). Safari flickers on any site actually. DO NOT UPDATE if you’ve been contemplating.
