How-to: Give an iTunes gift card using Siri on an iOS Device

If you are stuck on last minute gift ideas for the Apple person in your life and you do not want to go out in cold weather or fight shopping mall traffic, giving an iTunes gift card might be the easiest thing to do. Best of all you can do this using Siri on your iOS device so it is fast easy and convenient.

Using Siri on the iOS device you are able to say “I would like to give an iTunes gift card,” “I would like to purchase an iTunes gift,” or “I would like to purchase an iTunes gift card.”

Siri wittingly responds back with “All right. Let’s go get a gift card…”, or “Goody. Let’s go shopping…” and proceeds to open up the iTunes store bringing you to the Send Gift page.

Send Gift

From here, you are able to type in the recipients email address, type a brief message of up to 200 characters in length, how much you want to put on the gift card and when to send the gift card. The iTunes gift card does have to between $10 to $100. Tapping on Today in blue allows you to change the day in which to send the gift card.

Once you fill that out you can press the Next button in blue in the upper right hand corner. Then you are able to choose the appearance as to how your gift card will appear. There are a total of 7 different themes to choose from including holiday themed, gift giving, birthday and thank you.

Once you select your theme you are going to press Next in blue in the upper right hand corner. The next screen displays a confirmation page showing you the recipient’s email address, your email address, theme, and when you scheduled it.

Finally press the Buy button in blue in the upper right hand corner. To confirm you want to buy the card, press the Buy Now button in blue and enter in your Apple ID password. It will not let you use your fingerprint with Touch ID. This purchase will be charged to the credit card that is on file with Apple that is used in the iTunes Store. That is how you buy an iTunes gift card on your iOS device using Siri.

It does take a few minutes for the gift card to be sent to the person if you choose same day delivery. All the recipient has to do is press the Redeem Now button and enter in their Apple ID password.
