Apple pushes pre-release OS X 10.10.2 (14C106a) preview to testers

After several preview releases to testers, Apple has pushed yet another OS X 10.10.2 build to pre-release Yosemite testers through the Updates section of the Mac App Store. Previous builds of the Mac operating system focused on improving bugs with WiFi, Mail, and VoiceOver, and this pre-release seed is no exception. We’ll update our coverage with what we find in the latest pre-release seed.

The OS X 10.10.2 software update has been in development for quite some time now—the first beta went out to testers on November 20th—and the last OS X 10.10 update released publicly hit November 17th with 10.10.1.

– Build 14C106a up from 14C99d a week ago

– Weights in at 564MB (larger than some prior seeds)

ah, they keep on prolonging the official release date!
the last built was very stable!
I wonder what are they up to in these builts, as no significant changes are being done,.. though at least it seems that they try to fine-tune the OS X and meticulously eliminate the bugs.
    cool

I think it could be related to Active Directory bound users getting stuck at the boot screen. This issue is affecting my work MacBook Air when I am connected via Wifi. I get locked up, have to force power down. When when I reboot, the system halts at 50% progress bar.

See here for more info on why I think this could be related to the fix just released:

aww, never happened on my Retina MBP…..
so then, does the new beta help you with this peculiar problem?

I’m not part of the beta program…just patiently waiting (and hoping) from the sidelines. :-/

haha, nevermind… 10.10.2 is far far better than 10.10.1 (even in terms of animations and you know, the whole system just seems more fluid… I was really angry because of the choppy graphics you may notice when changing tabs in About This Mac, since the first beta came out, Yosemite has Apple-quality animations again, even though it’s not perfect, it’s definitely bearable) so hopefully, it’s worth the wait for you! :D
        cheers

@AnxiousChild: GPU drivers upgraded or have some of the frameworks been updated (or both)? looking forward to seeing more snappy and I’m happy that Apple is taking their time to make sure they squash as many of the big bugs as they can.

      @Kawaii Gardiner
The problem with performance, IMO, has been caused by the graphics displaying the whole content all at once rather than mapping the texture over the 3D object … if you know what I mean.
I don’t know what exactly is causing the sluggishness of the system, but it’s been really awkward, especially for Retina MacBook Pro users, who own the fastest apple laptops, yet the newest OS X seemed and fell terribly sluggish and choppy.
I can still see some choppiness when scrolling the Applications folder in the dock or sometimes the mission control animation is not 100% fluid, though it’s not a big deal anymore.
Average user wouldn’t spot any significant problem in 10.10.2 I suppose.

I find it rather ironic how I’m having troubles downloading a potential fix for my WiFi problems since my WiFi connection is too unstable to download it.

The WiFi problems are certainly perplexing. Must be very specific hardware. Or just unlucky users. Most pervasive Mac bugs come under my radar since I oversee a good 3 dozen or so, of various models.

Yeah, it’s really strange. My Macbook Pro has no problems at all, while my Mac Pro averages at ~10 Mbit/s with crazy amount of package losses. My current solution is to share my laptop’s connection through Ethernet. It looks ridiculous, but at least it works.

Still no updates to the graphics card driver in the Retina iMacs.

Guess Apple thinks its no big deal to leave us with faulty Mission Control despite spending $3000 a frigging computer.

If you wonder what I’m talking about, Google Retina iMac + Mission Control and you’ll see every single unit made has horribly bad Mission Control animation.
