No Discover card no happy. Wish I knew what the problem was.

Discover cards are the red-headed step children of the credit card world. It’s been that way since Sears Roebuck introduced it. Throw in the towel and get a Visa card. It’s accepted world-wide, and I’ve never seen or heard of a merchant turning it down.

I have Visa, MC, and AmEx but still prefer my Discover card. Best mobile app of all my cards. Uses Touch ID. Awesome bonus categories. Points accepted at Amazon. Support is fantastic. 5% on gas this month lol. I, too, am awaiting Discover to be added.

I’m also eagerly waiting for Discover Card.

  3. yooo - 9 years ago

first two comments are about lack of discover and simple support, and those are literally my only cards hahahaha

And still no Bancorp, therefore, no PayPal, no Google Wallet, no Simple.

And still no Apple Pay in Canada. I wouldn’t trade being Canadian for anything, but sometimes it aggravates me that we’re always last when it comes to tech things. It took a long time to get the iTunes music store. The iBooks store was also something we were way behind on. We still don’t have iTunes Radio. Come on!!

    • johnmfoley (@johnmfoley) - 9 years ago

Maybe you Canadians just drive a hard bargain on the contract terms. Or Apple shows Canada no respect and either ignores or lowballs you until you get too restless to wait any longer.

      • paulthefencerfencer - 9 years ago

No, unfortunately it’s us, not Apple. Our ridiculous regulations hamper our acceptance of a lot of a lot of these services. With iTunes it was our copyright laws that delayed the iTunes store, and that’s the reason we still don’t have iTunes Radio, which I’ve really been waiting for.

    • “The last when it comes to tech things”. Apple Pay has only been released in the US – iTunes Radio is only available in the US & Australia apparantly.

The rest of the world is waiting for these things too! :)

I have a debit MasterCard from Chase and that is still unsupported. Any idea why?

  7. absarokasheriff - 9 years ago

My bank, FirstBank is on the list. I’ve been using national credit cards for Apple Pay from day one of getting the 6 but now I can actually use a debit card. Prior to Apple Pay, never wanted to have a debit card because of direct tie to bank account. With Apple Pay and its security, time to break new ground.

    • I have FirstBank too, and you will need to call them to set it up. It was a pain in the ass but I did it this morning and I’m glad to finally be able to use my debit card instead of just national credit cards.

Just call the support phone number and ask for the fraud prevention department. They will ask you to verify it and then it will work. I kept getting the error that the card could not be added and then I called them and they had to verify for fraud.

      Best of luck!

  8. Still no Keesler Federal Credit Union

Great story but realize this – no matter what anyone says about who will have, or not have, your spend data – if you load all of your cards (credit, debit, Amex, etc) into one platform, that one platform (or that processor) will know all of your spend data. For example, you most likely have a debit card from Bank A, credit cards from Bank B & C, and an Amex card – none of these institutions know all of your spend habits – they don’t share it with each other. Use a wallet like this – an Voila! – all your data is captured by a single entity.

By the way – is mag stripe broken?

    • Sal Junior - 9 years ago

Your comment is stupid for multiple reasons. First, I had to reread it several times to try and make sense of your terrible writing. Secondly, all of the credit card data for Apple Pay is encrypted on your device and not shared with Apple and certainly not shared between banks. Lastly, mag stripe is not broken nor did anyone ever state that it was.

I suppose what you’re trying to imply is that if I have a Chase and Amex card loaded to Apple Pay, and use my Chase card to buy a burrito, that suddenly Amex would somehow know that I buy burritos. This is simply preposterous.

    • Actually you need to understand how Apple Pay works… It is not a “wallet” it does not store your information. Your card/account information is ONLY at your bank/issuer. That’s why it is taking so long for banks to get up to speed – they have to adopt this new industry standard that Apple used for Apple Pay (I think it’s actually based off a VISA protocol?)

Your actual card information is only transmitted (securely) when you initially load the card into Passbook. What gets saved on the iPhone is a dynamically created device account number returned by your bank. This number is the only number used when you make a transaction and this number can ONLY be used with transactions originating from that device.

BECU (Boeing Employee Credit Union) is now on Apple Pay too. Please add to list.
