Apple Watch returns to Vogue w/ first video ad & multi-page spread showing life size shots

(via Carlos Ribas)

As Apple prepares to bring the Apple Watch to market in just a few short weeks, the company is once again turning to Vogue magazine to showcase its new product category or wearable devices. We first saw the Apple Watch make its magazine debut on the cover of Vogue China late last year, and now the popular fashion-focused publication is featuring a multi-page spread displaying various Apple Watch collections. What’s more impressive, though, is the first video ad campaign for the Apple Watch found in the digital version of Vogue seen below…

For the print version of the Apple Watch advertisements found in the current issue of Vogue, Apple is featuring true-to-size prints of the various models of the Watch and highlighting customization with various band appearances.

For the digital version of Vogue, however, Apple is running a video ad featuring the 18k rose gold Apple Watch Edition from various angles—a cross between a jewelry store window display and the Apple Watch Reveal video we saw last September—with a simple prompt to learn more about the Apple Watch.

Aside from Vogue and Vogue China, the Apple Watch is currently being featured in the current edition of Self magazine highlighting the fitness and health features of the product. The Apple Watch is set to debut on the market sometime in April.

The print edition of Vogue is out now, and you can grab the digital edition (free app with preview, $4.99 for current edition) through Apple’s Newsstand for iPad on the App Store.

    My release timetable prediction:

Invites sent to media on Tuesday, March 3rd, for an event on Tuesday, March 10th, held at Apple’s townhall. iOS 8.2 (rumored to release the second week of March) released to public the same day, and preorders start that Friday, March 13th (preorders for the original iPad started March 12th, 2010). Device is available Friday, April 3rd, which is the 5th anniversary of the iPad release. It’s also Easter weekend, which the iPad also came on.

I also think due to the fact that iOS 8.2 has a built in ‘Watch Companion’ app, that it will act as an advertising conduit until the launch and/or until someone syncs a watch to the phone. When a user taps that app, not knowing what it’s for, they’ll be shown all about the Watch, and/or linked directly to the website for more information.

There are an awful lot of Apple haters out there hoping the AppleWatch will be a massive sales failure. These people always love to bet against Apple and I hope Tim Cook can prove them all wrong. I have my doubts about Apple being able to sell tens of millions of them in a year, but I think Apple with some slick marketing can move about 5 million of them the first year even if most are the Sport model. I can’t even imagine Apple selling thousands of Edition models, but I hope to be proven wrong.

I thought it would fail miserably too, but the design is too cute, The design itself is pretty timeless.. I think it will sell pretty well, especially the Sport model. Swatch is the one that’s going to take the biggest hit.

It’s kind of impossible for any Apple product to be a “sales failure” based on the volumes that they operate at now. Also, something can easily sell very well without being “good.” And of course something can be a great product and yet not sell well at all.

On top of that, Apple’s margins are so fat that it could be a “failure” (only sell a few millions), be cancelled after a year, and *still* pay for all the R&D and make them a small profit on top as well. They build all their costs into that thick, thick, margin of theirs.

The real question is whether it will be a good product and whether it will be worth the enormous amounts they are charging for it. Related to that is the question of whether Apple will do something they have never done before and add thousands of dollars onto the price for “fashion.”

      Sales are almost inconsequential here.

To me it looks as fresh as the first time I saw it, Looks better even. That’s a testament to great design.
Meanwhile all the other smart watches looked dated from day one and even more so today.

I wonder how many people are getting scissors as we speak, and cutting out that life-size watch to try it out on the wrist. :-)

Does anyone know if the English Vogue Magazine also has this Apple Watch page spread?

Why does anyone buy “Rose Gold”?

I mean, what are they thinking? “Let’s get the gold one that looks like it’s made out of shitty copper instead.” WTF? I guess it wouldn’t smell like copper, but otherwise it’s indistinguishable from copper.

      Hahaha xD

Jokes aside (even though a funny one), I personally like the rose gold one a lot better. But that’s just me.

    • You clearly don’t know any women.

Rose gold is popular among women and those with olive complexion. It looks nothing like copper.

    • women yep! my gf love that one! she is even thinking of buying :O I’m try to convince her not to lol. just get the sport one :D

    • dksmidtx - 9 years ago

Sorry, but “rose gold” has always been a hallmark standard – it was the top of the line for Cross pen sets for years…get with the program.

The design is simple, beautiful, devoid of gimmick, and not trying to be anything other than what it is. That said, I have no interest in owning one (plus I can’t afford it). Just the same, it’s a beautiful timepiece. That thing is going to fly off the shelves.
