Poll: Which MacBook are you? Space Gray, Silver or Gold

If you are like us, probably the toughest decision you are facing this year is figuring out which new Retina MacBook color you will be getting. The buying process otherwise is more like buying an iPad than a Mac with only 2 speed/storage models.

Will you match your Space Gray iPad and iPhone and now Apple Watch? Or, will you sport the same silver of the Macs that actually do some real work? Will you go off the grid and show your lawyer/banker colleagues who is boss with the gold model?

It is a tough and important call because you WILL be judged – you can’t just embarrassingly hide a MacBook in a wallet case like my Gold iPhone.  You’ve had a few days to mull it over. So what’s it going to be?

I’m in the market for a new laptop. The specs and even the one Type-C port meet my usage requirements, but the thing keeping me back is the price. I can get an entry MBPr for the same amount, so that’s what I am going to buy. If the processor was better to justify the price I would jump on it, but I think it’s too early on to buy one. The only thing I’ll miss is not having a MBPr in space gray.

    • I kinda agree.. Im not in the market for a new computer, i have a maxed out 15” late 2013 Retina MacBook Pro. I love it. Its great! I used it for everything. The only deal breaker that i have with it is that its big, i don’t mind the weight, but i am a college student. My classrooms seat about 30 to 40 students and the desks aren’t that big. I usually have my computer with me often in class and enjoy using it, but if i need to write something i have to close my computer and write on top of it. Really annoying. I want a smaller computer to just leave in my back pack that will be used for classes that i don’t need all the power for. I could go with a 11″ Air, but its not Retina. I like this new MacBook, but you said it well! Why not just get an entry level Pro for the same price and more power, its only a little bit bigger? This thing is sexy and space gray would be sweet!

I have a decently specked iMac that can do all my video/photo editing needs. I just want something that I can use on my couch or at work that will allow me to do homework and surf the net. The Macbook could do all this, but if I’m going to pay $1300 I might as well get the MacBook pro. Ideally, I should wait until after WWDC but I need a new laptop soon. At least the MBPr has the force touch. I don’t remember if it has the updated keyboard buttons or not.

      • I don’t blame you. No updated keyboard, but yes it has Force Touch trackpad.

I made it! The right answer appeared to be Space Gray!
Seriously though, I like all colors, and expanding the color options for macbooks was a great move.

I LIKE BOTH THE SPACE GRAY OR SILVER.

Oddly, even if I always prefer my devices in black or dark colors, and have always loved my space gray iPhone, I think I prefer the classic silver version for the Mac. I loved the space gray at first but wonder if it’s not going to be boring and a little too sad after a while.

Well, you got to try it to decide if it gets boring or sad (?). To me Space Grey is perfect. Silver is too bright, Gold is gay, and Space grey actually sits there without distraction but looks incredible.

  6. when will space gray come on the macbook pros???

I haven’t decided to purchase just yet but when and if I do decide I will buy the traditional silver.

When the time comes to upgrade from my 15″ MBPr, I hope Space Gray is an option.

I think generation 2 of this MacBook will be great.

That is a hard one to choose from…. !!

I just wonder why apple decided to go with a 480p facetime camera in this…Both the Air and the Pro come with a 720p camera, so why degrade the Apple experience with a crappy camera. The one USB Type-C port is a neat feature, but still, like others say you might as well go with the 13-inch retina macbook pro.

So Tim Cook can announce in 2016 that the Macbook 2 has a…(wait for it)….NEW IMPROVED CAMERA!!! Of course the AA’s (Apple Apologists) will vigorously defend the choice, and state that it was simply impossible to put it in this year’s model.

Well, the new MacBook is not tech specifications attraction. I am waiting for Apple to roll out the same color options for MacBook Air and MacBook Pro.

I’m not sure how long Macbook Air will be around. I have a feeling that long long ago in a golden apple land far far away they planned this whole thing…ie; “We’ll make a 13″ & 11” MacBook Air and after a few years come out with something much better at 12 inches.
And looking just like the MacBook Air.

      Those bastards.

I miss the black plastic 12″ macbook. That was the best Macbook I ever had. It sits peacefully in its box while the other tease him for being too slow.
I wish they’d do a deep, dark, batman black made out of that nice rubbery stuff used on the dash of nicer cars.
