Apple Watch will be showcased at Salone del Mobile design exhibition in Milan, Italy

The Apple Watch may not be available in Italy at launch, but Apple will be showcasing its new device at the upcoming Salone del Mobile in Milan on Friday. According to the design-centric magazine Wallpaper (via Tim Bradshaw), Apple is planning a one-day only preview and try-on event at the design exhibition on April 17th. The Apple Watch’s presence will mark Apple’s first time attending the design fair.

While Apple was noticeably absent from last month’s Baselworld luxury watch trade show, Apple’s Design VP Jony Ive expressed his excitement over the Apple Watch being featured during the upcoming design exhibition.

Says Jony Ive, Apple’s senior vice president of design: ‘Salone del Mobile has such a deep-rooted history of embracing excellence in design so I’m particularly excited to celebrate our newest and most personal product, alongside our friends and fellow designers, at this special event.’

Ive went on to describe the marriage of technology, craftsmanship, and utility that went in to the Apple Watch:

‘Creating beautiful objects, respecting craftsmanship and focusing on a design process that’s driven by the deepest care, utility and end use, has been our goal since the beginning,’ says Ive. ‘With the launch of Apple Watch, that’s been more important than ever, to create a product where technology and craft, beauty and utility go hand in hand.’

Specifically, the publication says that the Apple Watch exhibition will take place at Carlo e Camilla in Segheria in Milan, Italy on Friday, a week before the watch is first delivered to customers around the world in nine countries.

While Italy is not included among the launch countries, customers in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong and Japan.

Since last Friday, the Apple Watch has been available to preview and try-on in Apple Stores as well as Galeries Lafayette in Paris, Selfridges in London, and Isetan in Tokyo with the Salone del Mobile event joining that last for one day. Starting April 24th, the Apple Watch will be on display at Colette in Paris, Dover Street Market in London and Tokyo, Maxfield in Los Angeles, and The Corner in Berlin.

Will the Moto 360 be showcased also? Lol

    • If your over the age of 13 and made that comment you need to seriously grow up. Sad thing is you obviously are.

      • Says ‘Auntie Troll’ … No you couldn’t make it up.

      • What has my name got to do with it? Do you see me coming on here, on an article which has nothing to do with Motorola, and making a comment which is designed to ignite hatred for another brand?

That’s trolling. And last I looked, my response was to someone doing exactly that. So take your tongue out of his ass.
